This value also controls how far away you can hear ambience sounds and how far around you everyone will spawn in.
Everything above the standard 4000 value it will lead to sound bugs especially around Kap Dun and if you set it lets say to 8000 you can hear the Silder waterfalls nearly until you are in Trelis. It also will lead to other stuttering sounds.
Besides that it may crash more often and your FPS will be lower. In big fight like freeing cities it may even have other problems: More opponents will attack you and since all fights will happen even farer away from you some friendly NPCs will get killed easier. Like if you free the town with Lares in it he probably wont survive until you get to him.
I tried several changes over the years. 8000 was really nice but it was so buggy I lowered it. Then I tried 6000 but still many problems while freeing towns and also still a lot of sound bugs. Then I finally set it to 4500 where I could live with the still ongoing sound bugs but most other things went well.

Also, if you want to improve your performance, use the "Gothic 3 Cleanup" tool (https://www.worldofgothic.de/dl/download_498.htm The .zip link, if you're not sure), but only use it AFTER you've downloaded any other mods/patches you plan on using. I'd also recommend looking up a tutorial on how to use it; it's pretty simple but you don't want to accidentally change the wrong files.
Since you managed to download the community patch, you may already know about this, but to download World of Gothic files from Chrome you have to use RMB and "save link as..." into a folder.
actually, i managed to extend the draw distance of everything except NPC spawming, i think. It totaly removed all those low-res textures at the far range. Did not experience any sound issues at all !
ge3.ini file
Option.Sliders
DistanceHigh.fFarClippingPlane
DistanceLow.fFarClippingPlaneLowPolyMesh
VegetationViewRange.fFviewDistance
I've maxed out everything and it's perfect, you need to Select Custom graphics option while in game, then adjust sliders of those you have just changed in the INI file.
It does not change NPCs spawming distance but now you see the map as far as the eye can see and without those ugly textures at 100yard or so 😁
My post was only for the draw distance for NPCs and monsters.
For increasing landscape distance there are plenty of instructions on the web or you can use the shader and ini tool. But the shader and ini tool does not change the entity.roi means draw distance for NPCs and monsters because of known bugs that will cause.
