game will not play in 1080p

I have played the retail version for years and decided to get it on steam while on sale, both this and forsaked gods seem to not play in 1080p. I can tell becasue it looks stretched out compared to my retail version. I have been using community patches for both and tried disabling the steam overlay but to no avail

no I did not take any sorry, but I can tell something is off because the ui is much bigger and the whole game looks blurry

If your Steam overlay works, then pressing F12 will take screenshots and after you quit the game, will allow you to post them online.

this is with max settings and set to 1080p which is my native resolution, If I go play the retail version of gothic 3 it looks nothing like this. I tried setting it to my native resolution in the ini file but that didn't work either

Look in your Ge3.ini for the following line... GUI.AutoAspect= ... make sure it is set to "true".

it is set to true in gothic 3 but not forsaken gods which is the one I have pictured, I can't find the same line for that game, do you know a fix?

I don't want to preach, but you should ask that in the right forum. I play Gothic 3 and can say nothing about FG.

If you ask for my opinion, then I think FG butchered Gothic 3. I plan to play it through, as a tribute for Gothic, but the game itself seems a desperate attempt to prolong the series.
But I can be mistaken, since I've never played it.

If you think that more people will see it here then why not post it in Counterstrike forums or Dragon Age? :D I saw it, but can only suggest to play Gothic 3 instead.

lmao smartass, thanks again for the input. I will jsut delete the thread since its in the wrong forum. I have already played through gothic 3 vanilla and it's one of my favorite RPGs but never got around to FG

have you tried Comunity Patch 1.75?

yes, I have played since the game came out even though it barely ran on my old compaq. tried all the community patches and playing through it again with 1.75 was like a breath of fresh air
