Are you playing with the Community Patch 1.75?
Normally Wenzel storms out directly after you tell him that you want to liberate the city now.
Maybe go down to Uruk or whatever his name is? The head of the city.
In the dialog there, you can tell him that you kill him now. Then the liberation of the city will also start. Maybe this will fix Wenzel's not leaving his room.
After all those years I thought I would be finally able to finish the game but this bug made me so mad that I am considering putting Gothic 3 to ice once more.
Maybe you are lucky? Did you know you should liberate Kap Dun and all other cities only after you have done all the quests in all the orc owned settlements? I am asking because if you have trouble liberating Kap Dun it seems to me you are still very weak and in the beginning of the game. Other towns are much harder to liberate. In addition if you liberate too many the orcs will become suspicious and you wont be able to do a lot of quests in the other towns. Liberating towns is something for the end game.
Wenzel should join the fight no matter if you talk to him or not just after you killed enough orcs in Kap Dun. You can just simply start at the other end of the town. Other people will also join then afair. If you want an easier time then aggro one orc after another - lure him out of town and kill him there. That way you dont have to face all the orcs at once in the beginning.
But imho if you cant do it alone you shouldnt do it because you will lose out on a lot of game content.
Yes imho. Just do all the quests in all towns you can do. If you liberate the settlements at level 40 then you do it early I think. Level 60 is imho the normal, but you can also reach level 100 and higher if you are a grinder. Also I personally would get 500-600 hitpoints and hitpoint regen as a melee figher first or 500-600 mana and mana regen as a mage before I start liberating.
You can also easily get 75 % reputation in every settlement. No matter if in Varant, Nordmar or Myrtana. For me it was also fun the game provided me with that kind of experience to be able to deceive all the orcs and assassins and stab them in the back later.
Of course the game is some kind of sand box so no one is preventing you to play it however you like. It just insanely hard and probably frustrating to liberate the towns at your level.
this seems really stupid sorry, you broke the game, nothing for me... I am playing with patch 1.75 and i dont think this is even possible :D
Anyway, it is not mandatory to free Cape Dun early, so perhaps return later when your nameless hero is a capable enough to do it alone.

Fire magician in Gothic 3 - highly recommended regardless of whether it's with Alternative Balancing on or off:

tldr attack him, let him beat you, and then he should be in a normal state/unstuck.
