Also playing the game in windowed mode should also prevent this problem:
open ge3.ini file, change Fullscreen=true to
Fullscreen=false
Going to game menu first makes no difference, and playing windowed does not prevent the game from crashing when exiting. It also makes a windows mouse always visible when playing, which requires another program as a workaround for the workaround, and since it does not solve the underlying issue, I'm worried there will be further blackscreens and crashes later on.
Doesn't help you, sorry for that. I haven't had any such issues with Gothic 3 on Windows 7+10 with a wild mix of graphics hardware from either AMD or Nvidia.
Have you found a solution to the problem? I have the same one
I then just close my PC with CTRL-ALT-DEL.
What I have noticed though, it happens less often if when you want to quit, you say no instead of confirming the first time.
