A matter of opinion. Most will say go with the newest, but some will argue that the patches change the game to be more like the first two games and since they don't care for it, they stick with the stable version.
My personal opinion is to use v1.75, but to turn off Alternate Balance and Alternate AI.

Both were implemented to make the game harder. In best case you'd try both, but for a first play I'd suggest to turn them off. Unless you are a hard-core gamer and wan't to be more chalanged.

And i wondered about the hard time i had in the begin of the game . Checked if the game was on hard or not . Trying to fight animals or not having gold to buy stuff. But gonna keep it that way . :steamhappy:

Alternate AI made fights harder, true, but the gold thing could be unchanged (maybe). The key is to clean a town from anything you can take with you, after it has been liberated and before it's taken by the next faction. Also, don't buy everything at once. You don't need reciepies you havent learned to use yet. I.e. don't buy mana recipies if you don't know how to make mana potions.
In the begining you take what you can get (be carefull if you steal) and you invest first in perks like - skinning, collecting teeth and claws and picking difficult locks. You won't be able to learn them at once, because you'll need a certain level of appropreate skills, so you'll invest in those aswell.
When you have learned those three perks, you can try to get yourself some armor. You won't be able to buy anything impressive, but for start the second cheapest will do. For a while.
After that gold will be less of a problem. Most skins, claws and horns can be sold, some were needed for quests. Teeth can be used to make sharp arrows (when you learn that perk).

EDIT: Also, be wise! Don't waste learning points (LP) on perks you will newer use. Like if you don't use heavy weapons, don't learn that perk. Same goes with gold. Invest where it's needed. Later in the game you'll have extra gold, you'll be able to spend it as you see fit, but in the begining you must be smart.

P.S. Knock down is an amazing perk, if you know how to use it ;)
P.S.S. Stuff you find in chests like golden rings, jewelery etc. can easely be sold. Same can be said for exploding arrows and magic scrolls, if you don't intend to use them. With skins and claws, if you are not sure if they will be needed for a quest, you can always save some and sell the rest. Not that many were needed, but I can't name them from memory.

Yeah , this hunter skills/perks are really usefulll . I trade skinns or claws for arrows or lockpicks and never lose gold because of it .
Thx for the tips .
