Gothic 3

Gothic 3

Do some monsters respawn?
I finished gothic 1 and 2 so many times but gothic 3 only 3 times and I always thought it is the same situation with monsters like in gothic 1 and 2 but I had some situations that I started to doubt. Because sometimes you need to travel the same roads and you rather clear them. So once I was going one path and I cleared it from monsters. Some time ago I was there again and there were like 2-3 wolfs, sure I was thinking like "Oh maybe there were here but somehow I didn't see them" but later I was there again and there was a boar and later it happened again. So then I started to doubt there is no monsters respawn. Sure like in caves they don't respawn but how is it outside? I mean big monsters like trolls or shadow beasts don't respawn for sure but how it is with weak monsters, boars etc?

no i dont think they respawn.

but if you need XP you can use a monster potion and turn (for example) into a Wolf and jump off a cliff.

In Gothic 3 Monsters have a respawn chance of 80/60/40 %. Harder monster like sabre tooth have a 40 % respawn chance, Lesser monster have 60 % like Lurker. And weak monsters like Scavenger have 80 % chance.

The respawn chance happens 5 days after you killed the monster if you get 50 metres or nearer.

That's interesting. It keeps world alive but also change that feeling from previous parts that you clearned whole map.

But after this respawn infromation I think sleeping 5 days and back to kill monster for exp can be faster (of course if you find a good spot)

what do you mean with But? i didnt made any statement
I mean I assume that was your way to get some exp when you need it (monster potion) and with this information you could get exp faster or just another way when you don't have potions.

i was making a joke.

drink a monster potion and jump off a cliff, it gives you XP because you just killed a monster (yourself)

Well I died some times as a monster during fight but never tried jumping off a cliff and I thought you were talking about some bug that you die as a monster but nameless hero is somehow alive. I didn't get a joke. Sorry :P

If the monster does not respawn, do you know if it gets another chance in 5 days? If not, then eventually nothing would respawn. Each time I've played though, I've found certain monsters on paths I travel a lot always seem to respawn.

If nothing spawns then thats it. Nothing will spawn anymore. But the 80/60/40 % chance for respawning also happens for already respawned monsters. Basically you can go an area a lot of times and there are still monsters there. If you want to kill everything you have to visit everything about 5-10 times in my experience until there is no respwan anymore.

I'm not certain since I wasn't actually counting, but I'm pretty sure there were some creatures I killed more times than this, and did it across multiple games (like the scavengers outside the entrance to Ardea). And they always respawned. But maybe I really just didn't do it enough and my memory is biased :-).

Well its always possible you have a totally different Gothic 3 than everyone else. ^^ Or you played it without the community patch. And of course misremembering things is what everyone does. 10 witnesses tell 10 different stories. :-)

I think this thread proves that people have 0 clue what they're talking about and you're always, always better off trusting yourself.
