Please no. If you want to play Gothic 3 then buy Gothic 3. Forsaken Gods has just the title Gothic 3 in it too but is a different game which is the worst crap ever - besides ArcanIa A gothic tale.
Forsaken Gods is just a waste of time in my opinion. I had a "pleasure" of playing it back when it was released (I bought a retail DVD). It was buggy as hell (even more buggy than original Gothic 3 before patches), optimisation was horrible, graphics were more "technical" on paper, but looked worse. I don't remember how much I played it, but not much. I don't remember anything about the plot, other than it was very questionable from common sense perspective sequel to Gothic 3. And I've never played it ever since. So when Gothic 3 got released on Steam, it felt obvious why it was normal version and not the Forsaken Gods. Better stay away from it, play real Gothic 3.
Yeah, I had that same 'pleasure'. I do remember how far I played this atrocity: up until a main quest NPC went missing. I used the console to teleport me to him and I found myself somewhere in a 'limbo' environment where a lot of NPCs were just 'parked', either because they were no longer needed in the game or because they were supposed to appear later on.
A bit of googling told me it was a very common bug and most likely it wouldn't be the last gamebreaking bug I'd encounter, on top of the numerous small bugs (and let's not forget a completely different personality for the nameless protagonist) so I quit and never looked back.
