Dont Forget The Millstones....
Handy things. To be found in places like Montera and Geldern, you will usually find an Orc working out with these. Once dropped and he walks away, pick it up yourself and try to hoist it over your head. If you still need a little more Strength, it will be no go and you will simply drop the stone. If you manage the power-lift, you are rewarded with +5 Strength, which could go in favor [ Warrior route ], to tip you over the line for important upgrades when following this path. [ Master Swordsman, Strong Shield Block, etc.]

millstones are good, but for warrior types you probably want to save them for when you hit 250 str. At that point each 5 str you get will cost you 10 LP.

I was at 238 when I got my 5 in Geldern soon after arriving and proceeded to wipe the floor in the arena which put the Orcs/Mercs into Green fairly quick. Armed with Sleep and Forget scrolls, this makes for a decent setup when I loot the town

This must be an Alternative Balance thing, because for me the cost has not increased, and I'm past 300 already.
Josh Sal should i play with AB off?

Alternative balancing does a lot more than just that. If you have installed the CP you will have a manual CP_1_7x_Manual.pdf in the Gothic 3 folder. It discusses the various changes. It is a lot easier to overpowered with AB off but it also corrects some game behaviors. The most annoying aspects in addition to the skill point cost doubling after 250 is that it also puts skills into a tree format where you have to waste points on trash skills to get skills you want. Probably your first playthrough you should leave it off.
Here's a copy of the manual covering the two modes added by the CPT:

Yeah, for first walkthrough definitely better off AB.
