THQ Nordic, please remaster this game!

It would be a got way to re-start the whole Gothic series. Gothic 3 is defenitely not the best part of the franchise, but it should be the easiest to remaster. Just apply recent patches, fix compatibility, add more languages support, Steam features. If you could improve the gameplay and plot - you're welcome!

You gave many titles second life: Titan Quest, Darksiders 1/2, Red Faction, etc. so why not do the same trick with Gothic?

the rights for gothic are back at piranah bytes, THQ Nordic can not just remaster the game as they want and piranah bytes themselfes are too small for that, they only do 1 game at once, they dont do a second side project in oder to enshure the financial safety of the company like many other game studios do it.

and a remake would be better for this game since it has technical flaws which are not solved yet and design flaws which are caused by the lack of time to finish the game.

but i still love gothic 3 though.

that depends on if they only have the rights to sell the game or the rights on the games themselfes, that are 2 different things.

Yep, we don't know that. But it doesn't actually matter. I started this thread to show that I and maybe some other people want to see this remake/remaster/whatever.

i want to see it too, but i fear that it would not be made by piranah bytes and looses its flair because of that if it is a remake. :)

for example the game world was designed with a horse in mind which never made it into the game, thats why the map is so big and the travel time often so long. (which does not bother me at all but it still makes a good example),

I would defenitely love to see a remake too. But lets be honest - remake won't ever happen. We can only hope to see an enhanced version like that of Titan Quest. Maybe with new DLS/Addons coming after that.

I want to get at least an enhanced version because I don't want to deal with community patches installation and technical glitches. I'd also like to see minor improvements in the game graphics and maybe balance. These changes would be enought to give Gothic 3 more attention from the non-gothic community.

i agree with that, although i personally am fine with the community patches but i understand that not everybody is or would be.

the DLC/Addons would have the same problem than a remake, if they do not come from piranah bytes themselfes they could loose the gothic/piranah bytes flair, like it was with the "forsaken gods" expansion or with arcania.

but due to how piranah bytes works they would have to get paid fully so that their studio can live from the development of that DLC/Addons alone during the development of those since they only work on 1 project at a time with the exception of bugfixes/support for a certain ammount of time for the previouse game and the conzept phase of the next game.

i love gothic 3, i played all 3 endings multiple times, i want to see a remaster too, but without anything gamechaning which is not made by piranah bytes, except of the community patches changes which can get included.

Let them finish their current project - which likely will be ELEX 2 - where they gain more experience from making experiments within their Genome engine.

They've never ruled out developing Gothic 5, but they have been fed up with the pure classic fantasy setting temporarily. I can imagine that their continued work on the Berserkers of Magalan increases their appetite for a Gothic-style game again. And in that case, they would be well-advised to create a new game instead of trying to enhance Gothic 3 - that would become an extremely difficult task, because the game is very good already. Ideally, an enhanced version would do a lot more than fix the melee combat and touch a few quests here and there.

Although, after what has happened with the Gothic franchise after Gothic 3 and different developers messing up the G3 Forsaken Gods and Arcania aka G4, I dunno whether it would be a good idea to continue the series.

The main reason why there is no new gothic yet is that they fear the enormous expectations people build up themselves about gothic over the years as they said in different German interviews.

This is all I want for Gothic 3. I personally find the community patch doesn't fix the biggest issue I have with the game, the micro-stutter. That and the community patch also "balances" things I rather they leave alone. I just want bug fixes and performance improvements and nothing else.

Simple remaster can be done by another studio.

Often, "developer pride" is in the way of a deal - and is a big, big hurdle to take.

I did previously but that doesn't fix the microstutter which is the biggest issue with the game by far.
