Gothic 3

Gothic 3

For those who have the "infinite loading screen" issue by using newer hardware, try this.
If you have the issue that, when starting a New Game the loading bar loads to 100% and then stops here is how you cease that from happening (while fixing other graphic bugs as well).

Click on this link and download the topmost file from the list (the one that ends with tar.gz). The newest version as of today should be 1.5.5.[github.com] After this is done, extract the compressed tar.gz that you've downloaded (winRAR should work as well as any other) and take the file called "d3d9.dll" from the x32 folder into the Gothic 3 folder (where the Gothic3.exe is).

The game should work now. The only downside is that loading might take a little bit longer.

This broke my graphics compeletely...The game loads now but everything is black. I can hear the sounds and all but unfortunately its unplayable with this d3d9.dll
Is it the d3d9.dll from the x32 folder? Don't pick the x64 one.

Yes, it was from x32 ^^
Hmm, weird. Have you guys updated to the newest drivers?

Also don't change the textures. just install the game, put the d3d9.dll inside the same folder where the Gothic3.exe is and launch the game.

Also deactive forced driver settings (forced vsync, forced anisotropic filtering, etc.) and let the game handle these settings instead. Anyway, you can play around with your driver settings to see if it works out for you but it may require some setting-up.

Sorry, to my knowledge, this is the only way on how to start the game with the "infinite loading screen bug". That, or waiting for an official driver update.

i do it like u said nothing changes
Did you guys install the 1.75.14L patch first, by the way?

If you guys don't have, heres a link for you.[www.worldofgothic.de] Download and install this first, then drop the d3d9.dll as previously explained.

all patches are installed, Gothic 3 works only when i lower the resolution to 800/600. The real problem is in graphic card. I do everythink update bios, installed the new driver for 5700xt 19.12.3. 5700xt has problem with allocation of vram. But still i don t now why Gothic 2, 1 are works very fine also with mods like returning to Gothic 2, and Gothic 3 with 1.75 but without off any mods cant run.

same picture for me. The current workaround is much easier. Just lower the settings from time to time and rise them bag after playing a little bit. Then the game is playable.

Solution :
1) Set quality to Medium in game settings
2) Set max 60Hz resolution you wish

3) Optional :Do not wish to play Gothic 3 at hight video settings on You just buyed ATI Radeon (5700XT) :)

I've been away from G3 for quite some time and just recently upgraded from Win7 64 to Win 10 Pro. G3 w/CPT 1.75 is running perfectly on my system with all video settings at high. Something I noticed though, is that my G3SI.exe file is set to Windows Vista (Service Pack 2) compatibility. I can't remember if or why I set it to that, but if that isn't that file's default there must have been a reason I changed it.

this isnt an system problem but graphic card Radeon 5700xt
The problem is that AMD somehow changed a thing or two regarding how the drivers parse through the DirectX 9 api. Its not even a major problem, someone probably just changed a few lines of code which probably relates to VRAM allocation since as people said changing graphics to Medium partially fixes the problem. So its probably the driver having problems "knowing" how much vram to use for the game since textures don't get rendered through with every frame so the game begins to flicker because sometimes it renders them and sometimes it doesn't. Its irregular.

Changing it to a different api like Vulkan solves the problem entirely though. I just hope that AMD will fix the problem at some point.
