Controller support in the full game?
Got a chance to play the demo of the game early this week before it was taken down and I really enjoyed it. Can't wait for the full game to release!

Any chance the full game will have controller support? It's just a preference thing - I'm a little more comfortable using a controller - but that would be a great feature to have officially supported.

i recommend a steam controller ;) works with or without controller suport, but i guess if ror had it than this should have it too

Good eye - the game requires both a. high speed precision, and b. position based aiming, not just angle based, so controller support gets really clunky gameplay-wise. I had controller support but I think the game played poorly with it, and that's why I took it out. Compared to a game like Hotline Miami, the game requires much higher precision for headshots, shooting out lights, etc. I could've left it in, but I thought that might be deceiving because the game is truly played best with the mouse. Hope that makes sense!

That's a disappointment. I frequently buy retro-style pixel games like this specifically for the controller support, and I got really excited until I saw the mouse aiming. I'd hoped the final game would have gamepad support (which is why I was watching the listing), but I guess I'll have to pass on this one.

And it looked so good, too. :/

Sorry! You'll just have to trust me when I say that playing on the controller was a bit of a miserable experience - the precision that you need wasn't there. I think that if I REALLY had to do controllers i.e. console ports, I'd actually change some stages or gameplay to make it possible.
I generally hate playing shooters (stealth or otherwise) on anything other than a 360 controller, and was a little surprised to not see it here... but once I started playing it, it totally made sense as to why the mouse/steam controller accuracy is so crucial. It's a much less interesting game without it.

Trying to play Deadbolt with a trackball (I don't have a mouse) is a miserable experience. To such an extent that a Steam refund is the only way forwards, sadly.

Playing this game with a controller would be like wiping your butt with sandpaper instead of toilet paper, just don't.

Im looking for a way to use the controller, i understand it might be a "worse" experience, but id still like to try for my self... anyone has a Pinnacle Profile or something?

I use xpadder and you can have the mouse for aiming and controller for moving and interacting - but without controller support there is no such thing as aiming with an analog stick. This hybrid system works well in games with simple controls.

i got to disagree with you on this one,i played the entire game, even difficult levels with controller using xpadder and the game was so easy with controller.only challenge is moving with WASD,picking things with e,aiming with mouse and holding right MB,and shooting with with LeftMB and changing with Mouse scroll.with gamepad i can do this all swiftly cause i can hold LB and shoot with RB and move with Dpad, pick things with X,change weapon with Y,Knock doors with B.i think you can add even more precise controller support like they did for hotline miami,12 is Better than 6,etc.

Damn, bought and had to request a refund as there's no controller support. I should have checked first but alas I cant play this effectively on a laptop with a touchpad!

Edit: OK, I spoke too soon. Am using Joystick Mapper on OS X to map my XBOX 360 Gamepad to the in game keyboard and mouse controls. It's working fine. If anyone would like my presets send me a message.

Sorry to necro this, but since the dev seems to ckeck the thread.

Really wanted to suggest letting the game recognize the controller so you can at least map a few buttons. Say, movement to the d-pad instead of WASD and one or two actions to left bumper and left trigger, but still aim with the mouse.

Left hand controller, right hand mouse. Im not the only one who likes this scheme, works well in FPS. The best of both worlds.

I actually play this almost exclusively with Controller Companion, and find it WAY more responsive than my laptop mouse because mainly of one HUGE issue: I don't have an external mouse, and it doesn't do anything when I use guns. On my XBox One controller, howevwe, I have those mapped to the triggers on top and use the right JS to aim the cursor. I honestly would have returned the game if not for this.

Dev, if you read this, I'm more than willing to send you my profile setup for Controller Companion so maybe you can put it somewhere for people like me. I'm assuming from what you wrote that your lack of controller support is entirely practical and not something weird like being one of those people who believe that controllers should never be used on PC games because that's not REAL gaming (I find this disturbingy not uncommon believe bizarre personally)...I can't help in that case.

According to their twitter, they're trying to get a Deadbolt release on consoles. So, there may be hope for controller support yet.

Necro bump.. but bought this on the sale and just installed for the first time and noticed no controller support.. I only have a trackpad available as the laptop is on an angled small overbed table.. I wish i had bought the switch version! Funny how controllers work in that but not on the PC? It kind of negates your comments about controllers being bad for the game.. why release it on switch at all then may I ask?
