Would greatly appreciate if you removed this post as I'm trying to make a living from writing music and it is very hard! Especially if you, as you say, enjoy this music, please help me to be able to keep doing it!
Thank you, and I'm really happy you like the tunes!
Chris
P.S. The tracks are uploaded on my YouTube channel (and soon Spotify). No one HAS to pay to enjoy them. They can pay only if they feel they want to reward me for writing them.
Hey man, bought the game and I'm really enjoying your tracks. Like the OP I was looking around on where to buy the OST and really couldn't find anything linked anywhere on how to buy the OST. I ended up having to go to playdeadbolt.com, look at your team page, GUESS that you were the creator of the music (because you mentioned music in your blurb) and then ended up googling your name to find your bandcamp. So, uh, not exactly the easiest or most straightforward way to find your stuff. I've already bought it and I'm enjoying it greatly. But I have some constructive criticism for you. Before jumping down someones throat about listening to the music files in the game (that they paid for) why dontcha link it somewhere on the main website or the steam page or SOMEWHERE that makes it easy for people to find. Just a thought.
Have a good one.
I'm sorry if it sounded like I'm "jumping at someone's throat" but that was not the intention at all. Just wanted to share my thoughts abouy this with you so you can see my point of view. I feel I was pretty mild and did not attack anyone. (Why would I, the OP states that they liked the music, and for that I'm grateful!)
You actually make a good point about the game's page not having a link to the OST. The only reason is, when the game was created there was no link and the page is just not updated yet. A foul on our part admitedly—I would have done it myself but I have no access to the page, I'm just a freelancer.
As far as making the music easy to find, a google search of "deadbolt soundtrack" will get you there. And my name is both in the offical site as in the game's credits. The only reason I don't post the link here is because I don't mean this to turn into a plug. I'm only trying to get a point across.
I hope everyone here can understand that I'm not part of some corporate machine that has people dealing with marketing and SEO while I'm standing back wating for the money to roll in. I'm just one guy behind a PC who's been busting his ass for several months now to get this music ready in time and sounding as best as possible. So forgive me if I sound emotional about this and apologies again if I sounded aggressive.
Thanks to both for enjoying the music,
Chris
Thanks for talking about it on this thread! I absolutely have been loving the music and was weirded out to find there's no soundtrack DLC to purchase as has been pretty usual for a lot of Steam games.
Now I know where to find these tracks! I'll definitely grab them--great work on composing this stuff; they fit perfectly with the game and are the ♥♥♥♥.
Thank you, glad you like it! :) There are several reasons the OST is not on Steam. I won't go into details here as it is besides the point, but I will say the main reason is that going through Steam means I have zero connection to the audience. Building a relationship with you guys is much more important to me than a couple extra sales (because it means I can do this long-term).
I'll say it again. No one has to pay to listen! The OST will be fully streamable on my YouTube and on Spotify soon, and is fully streamable on Bandcamp already. Buying it is just a way to say "we like what you're doing, keep doing it".
Take care,
Chris
Thanks for posting the link :) I want to make it VERY CLEAR that I didn't reply to this to scold the OP or anyone else! After all, a person who reffered to my music as "best soundtrack in game ever" is awesome in my book!
And it's not so much a matter of "original" versions. The ogg files are the in-game versions and the ones on bandcamp are the album versions. They are both original in their own way. Tracks in the album are treated more with a music LISTENER in mind. They have longer and more natural finales and sometimes extended solos, and are mastered differently, to sound better on a hi-fi audio system. In-game files are trimmed to loop properly and make an uninterrupted experience for the PLAYER and are mastered for better listening via gaming headset and PC speakers, as well as leaving room for the game's SFX.
Thanks again, everybody, I'm happy to know that you enjoy the music! :)
You are brilliant, chris!
Take care,

Chris,
I just wanted to let you know how much I love your music! I have many hours logged in ROR. The tracks you produced for that game were an absolute game changer. ROR wouldn't be what it is without your contributions.
I had no idea you have this stuff online to listen to for free (though I would totally buy your music if you could steer me in the right direction).
What was your inspiration to name the ROR extra album after the engineer? Is he your favorite character? I've been wondering for a couple of days.
I listened to your soundtracks today while at work (data entry). It really gets me in the zone.
Best wishes and thanks so much for your attention to detail. Hope to hear more of your work soon.
Thank you! The link to the DEADBOLT OST can be found on the original post of this thread (thanks Gandalf for adding it!). From there you can find all my albums! Plus there's always a link to my bandcamp in all my youtube videos' descriptions ;)
The idea is that using the seperate audio stems you become the engineer of the music, doing some tinkering of your own (engineer is the term used for people doing the recording, mixing, etc. in music studios). I don't really have a fav charac from RoR since I have not played that much on account of me sucking at it :)
Thank you for the kind words (all of you), it means a lot!
P.S. We added a pinned topic to the forum with the link to the OST since some people correctly argued that it's not that easy to find :)
Just wanted to say I love the new soundtrack, even if it's noticably different from RoR's. Are you considering doing an audio commentary about them eventually like with the other album? That was really informative and sheds new light on every track. Anyway, keep on keepin' on. Planning on buying it on Bandcamp pretty soon.
