And experiment, of course!
Also, use each death as an opportunity to learn and remind yourself to pay attention. Even pros can't beat every level they see in one try.
What level are you currently stuck on? My tips are to use lights because they make you unable to be seen, and also to quickly go up/down staircases to aggro enemies. Also, so far for me the scythe is really OP.
-Take your time.
-Unlock the hammer as secondary and death and taxes as primary ASAP.
-Bait enemies with knocking, going up or down doorways or vents.
-Use the hammer as much as possible on single weak enemies
-Use headshots (most important tip)
-Use cover and while in cover take your time to aim for their heads, people easily overlook this but can be a life saver. Don't use cover when there are melee based enemies rushing towards you.
-Conserve ammo, be efficient.
Rather than thinking of it as don't use cover for melee enemies, you should think of it as only use cover for gun-based enemies. Because dogs and liches (and possibly others) can also kill you behind cover and they don't technically use "melee". Good tips though!
