killing floor sucks ass compared to this
Rofl.
Dead Effect 2 current players (as I type this): 2 All-time concurrent max: 264
Killing Floor (1) current players: 453 All-time concurrent max: 24,107
Killing Floor (2) current players: 5118 All-time concurrent max: 69987
Killing Floor (1) was released 17 YEARS ago.
DE2 could and should have been a brilliant game, but restricting the coop max to 3 players alienates a lot of groups, I don't play it because I have 3 regular coop friends.
Also, even getting into a coop game in DE2 is a user=hostile nightmare. Frankly, the devs killed their own game with a single stupid design decision and a non-friendly interface.
This is a shame, because DE2 could have been great, it should have been great. I desperately wanted to like it and play it with my coop friends, I posted on the forums, made suggestions, but the devs just ignored all the player's comments until there were no players left.
still better
Actually, I agree with you. DE2 certainly has the potential to be a better game than KF2. KF2 is the only game I have ever refunded on Steam. KF1 (my personal opinion) is way better than KF2 (and yes KF1 is also better than DE2). I didn't refund DE2 because it had (has?) such great potential, ruined by a couple of very silly design decisions. And the punters obviously agree otherwise it would have more than 264 players as the concurrent max, and 2 players playing at present.
Edit: the forthcoming mega-patch is going to help, particularly the ability to play coop with friends from the get-go on the first two maps. But PLEASE make it easy to play coop, and not have to hunt through menus and keypresses.
But the devs will still have a failure on their hands despite the efforts put into the mega-patch. Why? Because players buy this type of game to play coop with their friends and randoms, and really this game needs a 4 player limit not 3. And I say failure with a very heavy heart, since I would love to see this game succeed and increase player numbers, but that one insane design decision has cost the game and all it's fans dearly.
Think about it - would L4D, Payday2, Killing Floor, Borderlands, Division etc etc have been as successful if they didn't support 4 player coop?
indeed
I'm glad you agree. 4 player coop has been asked for since the game was released, and the devs have completely ignored the request. Even the mega-thread detailing the mega-patch which will fail does not have a single mention by the devs concerning 4 players.
Enough. I don't even have the game installed any more, but keep coming back just to see if this one essential item has received a mention. I will just add this game to the list of games where the devs have killed their own game.
