How is this game compared to Killing floor 2?
Is the same kind of fun, or it doesn't replace one another and this game is another kind of game comapred to KF 2?

I found this to be better than killing floor 2 in the fact that you can find and buy plus upgrade better weapons there not much story to follow but you and 2 freinds can shoot the crap out of stuff.

I bought KF2 and refunded it right away its basically just wave survival, I think this game is way better also, plus you get to keep your gear. In KF2 your starting over everytime and have to re purchase your weapons from those stations or whatever they were.

I think this is a better game.

It is the same because it is about shooting zombies, and there is a light RPG element to both games.

It is different because it has a campaign AND all sorts of other modes, instead of just being wave based.

Perhaps this is petty of me, but I also feel that Dead Effect 2 is better purely because it doesn't have lockboxes. That's a personal thing though, I admit that freely.

KF is a totally different animal. It has always been a wave-based co-op survival platform with no SP elements worth noting.
Killing floor 2 is better if you want a coop focused game , the gun mechanics and gore system is great.

Dead effect 2 is better if you just want to play alone , the ambiance and horror setting is done in a better way and focus more on horror then just gores.

both games have their strong and weak points and it's depend on what your looking for.

If you are into these sort of games then you can see there are major differences and they are completely different. neither is better than the other because there is such a complete difference despite what some may say are artistic similarity. play them both and see that they are not even close to eachother. de2 reminds me more of doom 3 than anything else but with less survival horror and more blatant hordes of zombified space station workers and a much quicker pace.

By now I feel pretty damn passionate about both games, so here is my 2 cents:

Killing Floor is a smart, polished, brutal game that will punish the entire team for your personal mistakes! It’s co-op Ecstasy and hard as nails! On higher difficulty settings you will need to synergize with your team or you are all Doomed! LUV THAT!

Dead Effect 2 however, is all about BRAGGING RIGHTS!
That’s the main difference for me.
I sunk 9 co-op hours into DE2 with 2 mates and we are having lots of fun.
(The maximum 3 player co-op works flawlessly btw!)
But when playing this game;
we don’t need to coordinate,
we don’t need to communicate,
and we sure don’t need to co-operate.
This is mostly because dying in DE2 means nothing!
When a player gets killed (reviving a downed players is not an option in this game btw),
he just needs to pay some credits to instantly respawn…
True, the cost will increase next time you buy a respawn, but still,
it’s a penalty I’ll happily endure when I’m out of ammo ; )

In essence our group is not fighting the horde.
We are fighting each other by trying to prove who the best player is.
The goals are pretty simple: Most kills, least amount of revives, crazy killshot on boss, etc.
And even if I end up at the bottom of the board, I still win loot, experience etc.
You simply cannot lose in this game!
When playing a match there is really nothing at stake besides your ego.
There is no risk - reward! And that for a game that has so much to do with loot!?
A real shame...
If in DE2 dying had a real consequences, be it a perma-death wherein the rest of your teammates still have to deal with the rest of the total scaled enemies, and thus risking the entire mission and all the loot, that would make it so much more exciting!!!

Also the fact you can’t be grabbed, manhandled or cornered by the zombies really kills any sense of dread or urgency which is so characteristic to zombie games.
When first playing Dead Effect 2, the game almost gave me a couple of heart attacks. But once I figured out you can simply run by, and even through very dense crowds without any real consequences, I started approaching this game in a very different way:
JUST GO KNEE-DEEP AND HAVE FUN!
That worked : )
The gunplay is decent, but what sets it apart is the amount of shooting you will be doing in these arena like maps. Rarely will you be looking for an enemy…
And might I just add, “Nightmare” is the perfect difficulty for the real meat of the game!
(We (level 11’s) experienced the highest difficulty setting called “Hell” as NO FUN and quite contra productive!!! It might be an option as we progress and upgrade to max level 20?)

Although the maps in DE2 (and your freedom of movement) are insanely cramped, even compared to KF2 (which already has maps that are considered to be very small), I still have nice feels for DE2. Even missing a quick melee, and even a jump button, I still seem to enjoy it. Maybe because I see its potential? Or maybe because it reminds me of its exceeding great counterparts?

Make no mistake, even with its nifty dismemberment system, at its core DE2 is a looter-shooter. Most enemies are just bullet sponges with little to no hit-reaction and a big fat health-bar above their head. But they are interesting enough and sometimes show "surprising" behavior, the bosses however…

Really hope BadFly gets it right with their upcoming “content-patches”. And also that they come to grips with the fact that everybody will try to compare their game to Killing Floor, Borderlands, Dead island, etc. People need a reference. They instinctively go looking for it. Your thread is just another proof of that. And when a game gets compared with the above list, people tend to be very passionate and polarized about it. (BadFly should actually take advantage of that and piss everybody off in upcoming promotional material : )

BadFly Interactive is very close at making a very decent BUDGET PC zombie game! For now it’s just brainless arena shooter, which runs decent (i7 950 @ 3,2 GHz. – 12 GB. DDR3 - AMD R9 280 3 GB. - 1080p 60 fps) and has some “extra” graphical options (also DX9) which become available when you start the game directly through your Steam Library. It should be mentioned that DE2 is little technical marble! I have never seen a Unity Engine push out so much stuff! So many bodies, particle, bits and pieces flying around : O
The scope is huge and is also the main reason why I think this game is so special.
I must add that the present degree of optimization has only been added recently. The founders of this game experienced a lot of #####, but still, BadFly is here, and is very close at making a decent PC port.

Would I recommend it?
For 11,99 DE2 offers a lot of content, but sadly most of it is so short you’ll feel cheated out of the experience it was building up to.
Story missions end very abruptly, some game-modes can be rushed unintentionally and the max duration of the (co-op) “endless” game-modes is about 15 min.
The latter are still are the main attraction of the game, be it “survival” (time-based) or “biohazard” (bodycount). These are reasonable enjoyable horde-modes that show off the true potential of this game.

So by now you already know that Dead Effect 2 isn’t the holy grail!
But it’s also not the piece of ##### that people make it out to be.
The most disturbing reviews are from a while ago.
Much is improved, but BadFly definitely needs to make this game much more darker (also literally), and a lot more grittier, with much harsher penalties to appeal to PC gamers who crave a bit of EGO Zombie Shooter fun.

Killing Floor however, already has the perfect game-mode, centered around team-play, communication, healing each other, calling out biggies. Besides a slight overlap in the “undead or ”infected” theme I don’t think they really compare that well. CoD Zombies is a much better comparison. Combine that with the abilities and upgrade system of Borderlands. And the maps of DOOM3. That’s the way DE2 feels for me. its crazzzyyyy...

If you are still not sure if you wanna spend your hard earned cash on this product,
Dead Effect 2 has a demo!
Hope that helped.

This doesn't hold a candle to killing floor 1 let alone 2

Honestly, I like this game a lot more than either of the Killing Floor games. That's not to say that the Killing Floor games are bad in any way. I just happen to not care too much for wave based survival games.
