Some of us have 144hz monitors and want it as fluid as possible
In 3d animations the computer can generate new animation frames by interpolation of the key frames, but in traditional frame by frame animation you're limited to the number of drawnings.
That means you can repeat them to fit in a higher frame rate, but it won't be more fluid since the number of unique drawings/sprites are still the same.
I just dont like the concept of locking a game to a frame rate at all. I have a 144hz monitor with 1ms response time and a 970. Id like to run it at whatever refresh rate i choose. The beauty of pc gaming, choice and flexibility. It being an engine limitation makes sense with the 2D animation. Trust me, when you eventually upgrade to 144hz, it will be a huge difference. I just want the option to be able to play higher than 60 since 144hz is my refresh rate.
There won't be a quality difference though. It will be impossible to notice. And I'm not saying that in a sense "your eyes can't see past x fps". This is a sprite game that has specific animations and movements. It physcially can't get anymore fluid...
i also have the same monitor connected to a better pc but this game will not get any better as nova has stated this type of game will not gain anything.
