Roy's sister "Adrian", your girlfriend - - Adrian was Rocky's wife's name in the Rocky movies. Also, Roy dies to Ivangief and you take revenge by going to Russia, another Rocky reference (Ivan is the name of the Russian fighter that kills Apollo Creed in Rocky 4)

Nearly every character and event is a 80/90's pop culture reference to fighting movies, games, pro wrestling, or boxing.
