Dont build strength
It's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ broken. You can't hit the hi AGI guys. Also the agi gym gear is way better. DO NOT BUILD STR.

STR build can be more challenging, that's true.

It requires you to chose your skills more wisely. There are a lots of special skills in the STR build that decreases your opponent agility.

That is how STR vs AGL works.

STR builds have a very weak early game, but it pays off mid/late game when you get the right skills/perks to down your opponent before they get a chance to react.

From what some streamer did, the STR build requires more tactical approach, whereas with AGL things are more straightforward.

The agi reduction skills are a bit weak from my experience using them so far, unless there's some trick to them I'm not seeing. The main problem is that you have to actually land them in the first place to have effect, and then the effect isn't particularly severe; as opposed to the Way of the Tiger's 50% block chance reduction for example.

Have you tried Elblow? I'll agree that the other agility reducing skills didn't seem like they were doing much or even debuffing long enough to make a difference, but Elblow definately helps me hit high AGI characters.

The issue with STR builds is that you get wrecked pretty early until you can get into the STR talent tree. I've found it to be fine later on. The two problems early in the game are that 1) you can't hit AGI guys and 2) you run out of energy and get knocked down.

I think Uppercut (low AGI-dependent atk) is intended to mitigate #1, but if you get Uppercut then you have to waste skill points to get High Punch, which is needed for Skip Attacks. This is problematic because if you don't have Skip Attacks you are going to run out of stamina and get knocked down a bunch (hence #2).

Also problematic is that dodge is based on AGI, so if you're an AGI fighter then you can improve your offense/defense at the same time. STR fighters are stuck with block, which is less efficient to begin with.

None of this is insurmountable though. The way I played it was to start with an AGI build up until Do Not Fall Down (prevents reduction below 4 AGI) and then switch to a STR build, training STA as a secondary stat. This let me only focus on two stats for the rest of the game and also allowed me to compete with some of the AGI fighters early on.

I don't know if this needs a solution, but one possible option would be to make knockdown chance dependent on STR (or STR difference between fighters). This would allow you to run a big bruiser who could take a few hits at 0 energy without getting trashed.

High AGI fighters are too unbalanced imo. Opponents with double digit AGI are extremely hard to hit and even with low STR they still hit hard and land constantly. They should rebalance to where their strikes are weaker and they tire quicker. As it is, I think it's unbalanced.

Str builds are crazy strong. I made it to mansion on day 63 the only reason I couldn't get there sooner was due to the 3 day wait in between fights. having 15 10 10 stats

how the F do you get to 15-10-10 stats within 70 days?

I'm on day 167 and I'm 4-18-4

Pretty possible I might just be under-leveling agility. I know agi fighters can get away with stuff like 4/20/X, but I suppose a strength fighter just might not be able to.

I gained the system a bit. at the benchmark for strength 8 (muscle memory 2) I used a magic potion at 6 str and then learned the skill. Raised my other stats to about 5 repeated again at the 13 str skill. raised my skills to 10. Raised my str to 15 while keeping agi and stam at a constant 10.
Edit: a note should be made that at 6 str i was at rookie rank 3 and realized I had never lost a fight making so I had to throw two fights for the magic vendor to spawn.
