I swear to God this game is harder than it should be. I can't even beat the first level.

I just finally did. I agree, this game is far more difficult than it needs to be. A stronger ship with bigger fuel and air tanks seem to be in order. As it stands I have no time to explore space because my ship is always on the verge of failing. All I do is frantically take off, find a planet, land repeat. I'm like a damn bumblebee.

Landing is an absolute nightmare. You try to get close but then gravity stops working and you get flung off into space. You try to make your way back but end up shooting into the planet and crashing. Trying to land lightly is an impossibility and you'd have to be a magician to have the perfect velocity at the perfect place in the perfect time, because there's always water or mountains in the way making you jump about like a kid in a bouncing castle. :steamsalty:

Yep. There is simply NO learning curve. It goes straight to near impossible and then only gets worse.

I'm suprised - but I have a pilots license. Anyway, when I'm in the vicinity of a planet I want to land on, I coast towards it but rotate around so I'm coming in drives first. Then its a matter of blipping the thottle to slow you down. Should be able to feather in without much difficulty.

One thing to note - not all scenery is an obstruction. Darker objects on the ground tend to be "distant" and you can land right on them without a problem. Same with trees.

I've just finished the first level 34 minutes after buying the game. It did feel somewhat hard and frustrating at times though.

:steamsalty: aside though it seems quite fun, I still haven't quite got the hang of how much influence my engines will have depending on the situation.

Yeah, it's really hard for what seems like would be a chill exploration game. I've played just over 70 minutes and still haven't finished the first level. It's weird that I like it, but I'm also frustrated by it.

I don't think I can keep replaying and failing for much longer though. It's starting to challenge my sanity ;-):2016whoadude: I can't tell if I'm having fun or if I'm just stubborn.

Take a break and play something else for a couple of days. Then come back to it fresh and get your win. You'll get it.

Just ease into a loose orbit, backburn to drop towards the planet, feather the burners and touch down. And don't hit mountains or any other "forground" stuff. It's not THAT hard.

Also, make sure you always move north in gas clouds (you can see them faintly in the sky). I'm convinced that once you jet into deep space, you tend to stay there. Find a planet, land, then try to follow your gas traces to the next marker. If you don't see anything, turn around and refuel and go a different route. The trick is to always try to find another planet north of you to fuel off of.
