Totally stuck

I'm totally stuck. I can't find the item(s) I need to proceed. I need something which allows me to jump higher and something to get past spikes. I've explored everywhere I'm able to, but I can't find what I'm looking for. Can anyone offer assistance?

Did you find the map? Travel up from where you killed the fly boss. Trying to go in unexplored rooms and getting coins should lead you around the world to find all of the main power ups in plain sight.
