why is there no save point in front of Fitzroy?

Joakim Sandberg aka konjak made this game all alone so I think you should pay him a little more respect. I guess that it's a way to ensure a lot of time and willpower is required to beat him, but I agree it is a bit excessive.

good news i beat him. the 2 royal guards is probably harder. but i realized you can beat this thing and then die to the water on the way back..

Not a problem. I beat Fitzroy then screwed around trying to fill in the map in the big area down there and drowned without saving. The game has a checkpoint post-fight so I just respawned back in the room to the right of the bossroom. Didn't have to redo the fight.

Either way, I didn't mind the lack of a checkpoint. It's a Dark-Souls-type of fight so the short trek to get to him felt the same.
