couldn't connect item v2

getting this message when i try to connect to a item v2 server "couldnt connect server is running a newer version please update your game" any help?

Wait till the server owner updates their server.
Otherwise join one of the official servers, since they're always up to date.

Did you make sure to select the "Experimental Item V2" option out of the 4 options that come up when you first click to open the game?

No i didnt. And im not even sure if i ever saw such an option... When i start the game, i don't have 4 options to choose from ?!?

When you click "Play" right after that a menu box pops up asking which version you'd like to play. To play on V2, you must select the fourth option "Experimental Item V2". Then find a V2 specific server.

Ok thank you guys... I used to open the game from a desktop shortcut, where i never got such a menu. Now everything works fine.
