[SOLUTION] "Your Steam account is already linked to another BSG account."

Okay as a victim myself I finally managed to resolve the issue so here's how you can resolve this issue for yourself and this'll be a step-by-step on how to do it.

If you've unlinked your Steam account from your BSG account, the Steam Tarkov launcher might've just created a whole new fresh account *Tarkovcitizen* for you and unfortunately its how its designed (its ♥♥♥♥ I know, its BSG after all) and its simply impossible to log-out cause logging-out just closes the launcher itself. (It really is poorly designed!)

1. Uninstall Steam version of Tarkov as you don't want the launcher creating another account during this process. (If you have the website version of the launcher uninstall that as well and delete all the traces was left behind, better be safe than sorry.)

2. Log into the website using your Steam account.
3. You'll receive a prompt asking you to finish creating your account.
4. Finish creating your "fresh account" and verify the email (use a different email or use the dot technique to create multiple email under 1 domain)
5. Go to the new account profile > linked accounts > and unlink your Steam account.
6. Now log back into your original account where you had your progress and then link back your Steam account.
7. Reinstall Tarkov and by default your Steam Tarkov launcher will log into your main account but if it doesn't then log in manually.

My speculation:
It's by far the most logical speculation I came up with. Tarkov is a weirdly designed game, you can only buy 1 version of the game on Steam (Standard, Left Behind and Prepare for Escape edition) and after that you cannot upgrade it at all after picking one on Steam, you'll have to upgrade it through the website and even then "I wouldn't recommend anyone doing any sorts of upgrades as its very unstable for Steam users."

So my theory is that the game ownership (whichever edition your bought on Steam) is bind to your Steam account meanwhile the progress is bind to your BSG account so unlinking your Steam account from your original BSG account means you're revoking the game ownership while retaining the progress.

This solution worked for me and some people I met through Tarkov Discord and I hope it'll work for some of y'all, if not I suggest going to the Official Tarkov Discord or contact them through support. (That is only if my solution doesn't work because so far it worked some so good luck PMC!)

if you create an account on website and LINK with steam that error "Your Steam account is already linked to another BSG account." will pop-up. you need to login WITH steam ✅, not create account THEN link with steam❎.

Ok, but my progress is on the new TarkovCitizen account that Steam created, not my original BSG account. How would I get my progress to continue on my original BSG account?

Unfortunately, you can't transfer progress from one account to another. But you can try by contacting BSG support.

This is the worst. It was basically a coin flip. Make a BSG account first then launch, you're ♥♥♥♥♥♥. Just launch via steam, you're ok. Total ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I'm two hours into this to try to fix it now. Stupid.

I've only got one email, so I basically can't redo this, is what I'm thinking.

Do you mean your original BSG account or original TarkovCitizen? I had already made an account with steam and unlinked it. If I go to log in with steam now, it forced me to create a third account to log in with steam. I did this, then unlinked the third account, and linked to my initial BSG account. No recovery... So now I just have 3 fresh BSG accounts and my 83 hours is still in the ether.

You can use 1 email to create multiple accounts using the dot technique.

Whichever you had your progression on, just link it back to that account. The "TarkovCitizen" is just a auto-generated name by the website. If you have 3 accounts that means you didn't close or uninstall Tarkov during the whole process. The Steam version of Tarkov launcher will auto create a new account every time you unlink it unless its uninstall (You can close it entirely but its best to be safe than sorry.)

For me I was asked to create a BSG account on launch day of Steam Tarkov but I guess they changed that or something and made it an auto-create thing, so yes it is ridiculous.

I did everything on this topic and linking to Steam worked like a charm, just I can't buy (upgrade) my Tarkov on steam, why is that? Also there is another problem since I've bought game thru Steam and linked it now, It says I need to buy PVE DLC again...

I have done everything that this guy said and it worked, the Steam launcher now launches the correct BSG account.
BUT there is a problem, when I've launched the game after these steps it prompted me to create a new PMC.
All my progress was lost on that TarkovCitizen account that the launcher created.
How do I get that progress back to my main BSG account?
