Can I buy the game on steam and install the game files anywhere I want by using the website game launcher?

I want to buy the game through Steam, get the key for the game and create an account with BSG, then download the game from the website and use that launcher to download the game directly. I don’t want to download the game to the Steamapps/common folder. I then want to delete Steam since I no longer need it in order to play Tarkov.

Is this possible? Or does the Steam purchase force the file location and subsequent launch of the game to Steam control only, thereby requiring Steam to be installed on the machine permanently for access? Thanks

If you bought EFT on Steam, you will have to use Steam with the BSG Launcher. you cannot decouple the two. You will be required to have Steam installed to access the game, and you likewise will not be able to access the game solely through the BSG Launcher downloaded from the website even with your account login.

You can change the location of the steam folder. But it begs the question why even get it through steam if you want to delete steam, just get it straight from bsg
