I'm now hearing there won't be a PVE wipe? Is this true?

Yes. Progress will not be reset with wipes. All progression is retained permanently.

Yes and no, if you want the new quests and story you need to manually wipe, but you can choose not to, but you won't have access to all the new content.

thank you guys for the replies, i'm going to wipe, i want to see the new stuff they have to offer, plus, it gives me something to do, i don't mind the grind, it's part of the fun!

same i play mostly Pve and now i bought the game for my son, i will wipe my account anyways to play with him :) so we have acces to the new content

As far i'm aware, there will be different gamemodes. You have the PvPvE raids and PvE raids.

The normal modes won't wipe anymore, you keep the progression forever until the game shut downs. But there will be seasonal/wipe characters that will wipe at the end of a seasaon.

This means that you will have mutliple characters and even if a season ends, your main character keeps your progress. Only the seasonal characters will be wiped.

Hardcore = more punishing, high difficulty, the kind of Tarkov many know as “classic Tarkov.”

Softcore = less punishing, more QoL (quality of life) changes: more loot, less weight penalty, easier to trade, faster progression.

Seasonal character = a character that wipes when a season ends; good for “reset and compete” style play.

Main / persistent character = your “normal” Tarkov PMC, that won’t be wiped after 1.0 launch

Yes and no.

I've tried out PvE yesterday and they didn't wiped my progress. So, I still had everything from early access. But to access the newest content like the story mode, you need to reset/wipe your PvE progress. Then you will lose all the money, items, gear etc.
