Black Screen of Death (BSOD)

My specs

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600
GPU: Zotac GTX 980 TI Amp! Extreme 6Gb
RAM: 16 Gb DDR4
HDD (running the game): Samsung NVME 980 Pro 1Tb
OS: Windows 11

What I have tried

• Delete all ".dcache" files in "main" folder. They get re-created once the game opens up after forcing me to download an update.
  
• Remove and disable all cache graphics options
  
• Reduce quality of graphics up until Normal and Low.
  
• Disabled any samply FXAA, SMAA or other advanced light options.
  
• Uninstalled and deleted all game data and freshly re-installed the game.
  
• Run in Windows 8 compatible mode. No difference. Run as admin would not permit me to launch the game because it requires STEAM on that account.
  
• nVidia drivers are all UP TO DATE. Options in the Display settings changed, enabled and disabled but none do any difference, FXAA, SuperSampling, etc.
  
• Disable Shadows and disable using all VRAM. This gave me extra time to play and I could eventually play 1 or 2 games but BSOD still happen and I have to sometimes hard reboot my computer. If I wait long enoug, maybe 2-4 minutes, I get my desktop back without hard reboot.

My playstyle

I simply play in Multiplayer against Bots. 9 bots to be precise. A Free-For-All option on a map of my choice. I do not play the campagn mode, I never really liked them. I only play in multiplayer against bots. That's how I have fun with CoD games.

Results

• Game crashes at a random time while playing. I can play for 30 minutes or play for 5 or even barely starting the game. Get a black screen and I have to Ctrl+Shift+Esc myself out of there.
  
• I've had one occasion where I had to manually hard reboot my computer.
  
• I had to enable the option to use ALL my GPU's memory. The game would only use 2 Gb and I have 6 available. Game would crash immediately as soon as it tried to render my character preview at the game select screen. Enabling the use of all the GPU memory solved that issue and permitted me to actually play.
  
• Game does not crash immediately once opened since it does not render anything. Game crashes usually once I get into the "Play Online" or while I play.

Final words

Up to this comments date, I have not yet found any solution to make the game stable and playable without any crash. I have changed options and tried many different things. I may not have the latest GPU in the market but I am capable of running good quality graphics. Infinit Warfare and Ghosts run without crashing on high quality and Aliasing enabled. So I know that this game should be playable on my card. If someone has a solution, it would be greatly appreciated. I also have baught the additional maps pack. No matter the price paid, this game should work. If we paid 0$ or paid 50$, this is still a highly advertised game from a well founded company, included in a pack on special or not, there's no reason for this game to crash. Once we own it, as users/players, we do expect a minimum of quality and the minimum here is, NOT CRASHING.

I tried h1-mod[github.com] since I saw that it might have resolved the crashing issues, no success either, still crashes randomly.

Update: 2024-02-28

I disabled/tuned off everything and put everything down to LOW. Still having crashing issues that even go up to forcing a hard reboot of my computer. Driveres are up to date. See this error I got today while playing online multiplayer. First time I get an error message.

The game doesn't work. Multiplayer stops in the Shades loading page and the single player doesn't load anymore.

found a fix for myself try hitting cancel and cancel again then proceed to go lower your visual settings then try downloading shaders

For me it's down and side to side but cant look up.

For me it's down and side to side but cant look up.

I found a fix. I believe I fixed it by disabling all recording and playback devices that were not being used. People also have fixed it by uinplugging usb devices. Hope this helps you

Also if you have an nvidia gpu go to nvidia control panel . Adjust desktop size and position. No scaling. Apply

My Mouse is stuck in the top left corner, i dont know how to fix it..

Hey so Ive tried to boot the game however it just pops up with the loading screen for the game launch and then just stops launching, ive tried to boot in safe mode and open up the singleplayer but it wont open, ive tried running as admin, and also have tried to do a compatibility run for it in windows 8 but still not running, if i could get a hand it would be much appreciated.

Anyone had issues with mouse speed? On first launch i set sensitivity to 1 and this was fine, however every launch since it's insanely fast. Even if I drop my DPI from 1200 to 200, it fixes non ADS speed, but when I ADS it's literally sloth movement.

can confirm the double cancel got me into the game playing didnt look for the shaders just searched for a match
