Populating shader cache
I bought the game yesterday, have spent almost 10 hours trying to get it working right now - my PC meets the requirements to run this game, and plays other games that are more demanding than this one. My issue is that when I load the game, it updates fine and then attempts to populate the shader cache (which then stays at 00% until the app freezes and I have to force close it). I tried leaving my PC on overnight to load, no luck.

If anyone has any suggestions or fixes please do help me

just cancel the populating cache and turn it off in graphic settings, it doesn't even help anything and you can play the game fine without it.

Disabled it. Click cancel, then find it in the settings and turn it off.

Wait…so u guys all completed shader cache preloading? For me it will stuck at 0% and then freeze the whole game. After that I have to close the game with opening the task manager… I tried to delete the ‘player 2’ folder and then restart but it will stuck at 16% and same thing happen. This ♥♥♥♥ has confused me 2 years and it happens every time on both of my gaming and working laptops with RTX 2080 and 1650 MaxQ respectively. HELP!

No. You MUST disable it.

Yesterday i spent some time to pre-load every single map in private match and now theres no more FPS dropping. However i saw another post and people who left comments there all mentioned that they had completed shader preload and told me to wait for long enough and then shader will begin to progress itself.

I searched tons of posts. Some people like u guys in comments said close it off when meeting freezing in the progress. Others all said the shader will complete loading if u wait for long enough. IDK what made such a difference.

"had completed shader preload and told me to wait for long enough and then shader will begin to progress itself." Hey thanks, Patience is a virtue. Took about 5 minutes to leave ZERO!
20 minutes later it is up to%23 and stalled opps just jumped to %28! SLOOWWW Progress!
So hope this helps.

I was having the same problem right now. I deleted the folder player 2 in files, opened the game in safe mode when it asked. Then spammed the hell out of my space bar and clicked cancel and continue nonstop. The window finally went away and i was on the main screen. My anger finally paid off. Hope you figure it out!

yo I solved it, after you click "cancel", you need to keep click " cancel" instead of " continue". (you need to do those step fast enough before the game freeze) Then you should be able to get into the game, after that go to graphics settings and turn off the shader preload. If your game pop up the error message, just delete the "upshd.dat" file on player 2 folder and repeat the step I menitioned above.
