Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered - Multiplayer

SOLVED gtx 1060 Optimization w/4x supersample enabled!!!
I am extremely OCD about trying to maintain a really good balance of Quality to performance. I’ve done sooooooo much reading up optimizing games it’s not funny (though don’t expect specifics on how everything works from me, I’m bad at regurgitating info). This game has been a pet peeve of mine for a while. I’ve tried lots of settings tweaking, but I think I hit the sweet spot most recently after reading up a lot on AA optimization for Project Cars (I also hit a GORGEOUS sweet spot for that game and will post my settings for that as well). The game now runs at 60 fps with slight drops only in the most graphics heavy levels and situations (i.e. an air strike will knock it down to maybe 5 fps, and an airstrike on Downpour with all the rain and grass will knock it down 15 fps max), and believe me, with the level of quality that its these settings got me it is WELL worth the small fps cost. The game runs damn smooth and looks sexy.... ok enough beating around the bush....

Here are my specs:
MSI GE72VR 6RF (Apache Pro)-009US
Intel Core i7-6700HQ Processor
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 / 6GB GDDR5
1TB 7200RPM+256GB SSD
DDR4 16GB(8GB+2)

Here are my NVidia Control Panel Settings:
Anisotropic- App Controlled
FXAA- Off
Gamma Correction- On
AA Mode- Enhance App Setting
AA Setting- 8x
AA Transparency- 8x supersample
Max Pre-Rendered Frames- 1
MFAA- Off
Power Management- Prefer Max Performance
Shader Cache- On
LOD Bias- Clamp
Texture Filtering- High Quality
Threaded Optimization- On
Triple Buffer- On
Vsync- App Controlled

And here are my in-game settings:
Texture Res- Extra
Normal Map Res- Extra
Specular Map Res- Extra
Fill Memory- Off
Anisotropic Filtering- High
Shadows- On
Shadow Map Res- Normal
Cache Sun Shadow Maps- Off
Cache Spot Shadow Maps- Off
Depth of Field- On
Screen Space Ambient Occlusion- High
Medium Distance Ambient Occlusion- Off
Subsurface Scattering- On
Depth Prepass- On
Post Process Anti-Aliasing- SMAA T2x
Supersampling- 4x
Bullet Impacts- On
Dynamic Light Limit- 8
Ragdoll- On

Like I said, don’t expect a locked 60 fps in eeeeevery situation. The levels that give me the most trouble by far are Downpour and Overgrown, and that is probably because of all the grass being cranked up with AA Transparency supersampeling in the Control Panel, HOWEVER I will say that I am pretty damn anal about fps drops, and I can say with all honesty that the fps drops I’m getting are minimal and hardly noticeable unless your watching a counter. It is more than ok with me, and I am loving it. My recommendation is to test your settings in the shooting range (run, jump, shoot from hip, ads, examine weapon, the whole shebang), then on Bog with at least 7 bots. Also The Character model on the lobby screen is a wonderful canvas to see how all your settings are playing out!!!

Hope this helps, I know this game can be a nuisance! :P

***EDIT***
Have patience with several things in this game in general...
- Switching lobbies/menu screens too many times will cause an fps drop eventually to about 45 fps with the above settings, HOWEVER the second you enter the shooting range or any game it goes back to 60 fps. The Character model has a LOT of detail on the menu screens and making it appear then dissapear over and over is a strain on the game. Once again, it solves itself and doesnt affect game play so its whatever, just dont get too bugged out by it.
- EVERY multiplayer game REGARDLESS of whether in a full public lobby or in a private match with bots STUTTERS HEAVY AT MATCH START. If youve played this game enough, you'll find that this is a coomon problem with almost everyone, REGARDLESS of settings. It probably has to do with the fact that all the stuff on the Multiplayer side of the game is online and requires an internet connection.
- This game's servers have issues with lag in general, I've played with settings way lower than these.

Also, please keep in mind that these settings are for multiplayer specificlly. If you try to use these exact settings in Campaign, you will probably experience a few more fps drops, especially on grass heavy levels. This game's campaign is pretty graphiclly heavy, scenes involving helicopters in particular. Seeing as how the control panel settings for the Mp.exe and the Sp.exe carry over to one another, I would leave these as posted above, ALTHOUGH taking the AA Transparency down to 4x supersampling may help. Otherwise, a good place to start in-gakme would be by taking down the Normal and Specular map resolutions.

If you try any of these settings let me know how they turn out :)

***HOPEFULLY MY FINAL EDIT***
Go into Nvidia Control Panel and turn down AA Trancparency to 4x supersampling :)
Taking it down more will further help, but this is good and where I am leaving it. Lowest fps was 48 on Downpour during an airstrike while firing my mp5 from the hip!!! Other than that, its staying pretty locked

Nice post and good effort of you to post all of your settings. If we have more constructive posts like this one maybe the devs would acknoweledge the performance issues players are having. First of all i have similar rig as yours (I5 4670k, GTX 1060 6 GB, 16 GB RAM). I am using a 144 hz monitor (doesnt even matter because the game caps at 91 fps), so i tried to lower the settings a bit to always maintain 91 fps. To give you an example i play on 1920x1080 with most settings medium, no shadows and FXAA enabled. I have also tweaked the NVIDIA control panel profile for this game with most settings set towards performance.

But... the game has terrible optimization and there arent any indication that the devs are gonna fix things soon (or even at all). First i was having constant crashes after 20-30 minutes with message appearing "IDXGISwapChain::Present failed: The GPU device instance has been suspended. Use GetDeviceRemovedReason to determine the appropriate action." I upgrade my GPU and i havent any crash since then (although i havent played longer than 20-30 minutes since then). The constant stutter/lag at the start of the round is annoying, but the devs havent acknoweledged this problem that many players are having. And also even though i am having 91 fps most of the time the game constantly stutters and the game isnt enjoyable. Also it would be a good idea to show our ping while in game and also uncap the 91 fps.

I have tried a lot of different things (Update drivers, tweak NVIDIA control panel, Install DirectX drivers, Run Cod in high priority, Lower Settings, Cache shaders every time i start the game) but the performance of the game its in a poor state right now. Its a shame that they released it like that, because it was one of the greatest Fps of all time.

I 100% agree. I think we are on our own for this one at this point, Im pretty sure they are gonna abandon support for this game soon. Honest opinion on what really killed this game though? WAAAAAY too many whiny gamers. Honestly people ♥♥♥♥♥ out the ass then leave the game for stupid reasons. Real old school CoD 4 gamers have an opportunity to use this game free of all the exo jump lovers, since they already left the game, and free of hackers (compared to the original), yet all they do is say "f- this Im out." MAYBE if people stuck around they would fix ♥♥♥♥... but their own fan base doesnt support it, so why should they... honestly I think the lack of support is sadly my fellow gamers faults...

Man, I just wanna play old CoD 4. ♥♥♥♥.

For me its equally fault of the community and the devs. From one side is a large portion of the community that all they know is to whine and complain all day, create useless posts, and ultimately stop playing the game. Even the players that still play the game they mostly play tdm and most of the other game modes are empty. A reason that i wont buy any dlc for future cods is that after a month or two you cant find any populated games with dlc maps.

From the other side are the devs, that they make awful marketing choices (to sell it with infinity warfare and not separately) , having released it in an awful state performance wise, with one patch after 3 months (which didnt solve any of the performance issues) and with no interest to find what has gone wrong with the game so they can fix it. In most games (Battlefield 1, Titanfall, Rainbow Six Siege) there is a road ahead post that informs the players what are the next plans for the game. Personally i dont think that there are any plans for this game.

fine, just steal the settings XD
Haven't tried any of that and pegged at constant 90-91 FPS all game long. Glad it works for you though. A couple older drivers are also a help since they are sre specifically targeting this game in the release notes. 375.70 or 376.09

Especially 376.09

http://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/376.09/376.09-win10-win8-win7-desktop-release-notes.pdf (See page 8)

So why do you get 5 fps when airstrikes drop and you have a gtx 1060?
