Help. Game starts, then immediately crashes.

Hi guys. I had played this previously on my PC without issue roughly a year ago. Thought I would revisit it a couple of days ago and the game no longer runs. Issue: I hit the play button, game asks if I would like to start in safe mode (yes or no, neither option seems to matter), the game appears to start with a brief glimpse (maybe 1 second) of the Modern Warfare splash screen, then the screen goes black, then it returns to the Steam page screen. I have verified files, removed the configs so they could rebuild, and reinstalled. Nothing seems to work. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? Thx.

Ciao Guys, i had the exatc same problem...i was really pist...then i solved....you know how????
i just cancel all the temp files in windows, just go to windows, temp files, cancel everything and restart the game.

I tried that previously, but it didn't work in my case. It eventually let me start the game and I disabled shader pre-load. No problems since making that change.
