I know, there are "players2"-folders to download everywhere, which I already tested before even posting here. But what resolved the problem at the end, was to rename the included "config_mp.cfg" to "config.cfg". This is the only file necessary in this folder by the way.
What a crappy game, if user need to download additional files on the internet (unsave sources), and even have to change them.
Why is something like this allowed on Steam?
Im not sure whay you bough MWR, or why anyone would by it, when the original is 10x more populated and is a completely different game on PC then it is on console with new content being made and released everyday from maps/mods/weapons/models anything and everything cod4 has it. I would totally recommend anyone to get the original and ignore MWR.
im sure that the best reason to but this dead game with no active community
https://www.sendspace.com/file/0q54vs
and extract the included "players2".folder to the install-path...
..\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered
Than rename the file "config_mp.cfg" in this "players2"-folder to "config.cfg".
Now you should be able to start the single player game.
Do you want to play single or multi player?
any solutions ?
An hour later of trying stuff I googled, i got it working with running Windows 10 in safe mode with networking. You can do that by RUN -> msconfig -> BOOT tab and check the Safe Mode (Network) option and reboot.
After booting into safe mode, launch Steam and then launch this steaming pile of crap. You'll probably get a prompt to launch the game in safe mode, don't do it. The game SHOULD launch now, creating the players2 folder and the config files needed. Exit the game, disable safe mode by unchecking the box from msconfig, reboot. This is what worked for me.
