Nobunaga died through an assasination. If that event did not trigger because history was altered he wont die on that date. The historical lifespan is more for officers who died of natural causes in a certain year. Those will still occur. If the death occured through a specific battle or assasination or something like that, only if those events trigger (and have the same result) they occur.

It's his father though, wasn't he supposed to die from a plague or something?

Then again I got only 2 historical quests, for some reason right after I took my first 2 castles I got a mission accomplished message then nothing else ever popped up, that was like 12 years ago, so I just went on a conquering spree and got quite a large part of japan destroying every minor clan, the imagawa and the takeda too.

Either way, I thought Nobohide's death would count as a regular one, guess it wasn't =/

Kinda tempted to restart the scenario and see if I can get the right quests to pop up again.

In my game, he died at 1547. Additionally, I got 3-5 historical quest before he died. One was marrying Nobunaga and Noh.

I started at the birth of Nobunaga btw.

Was it tied to a quest? Or was it a random event? Did he get sick first?

Mind you, i mainly think that from older Nobunaga and Romance of three Kingdom games, in those the "historical lifespan" worked as i described.
I dont know if they changed it for this game, i always play custom rulers and set lifespan to max.
Im not really interested in recreating the historical events.

It's a cutscene for me.

Oh looks like it may be happening, at the end of feb 1552 I got a message from Nobuhide saying he just got sick.

Maybe the dates aren't set in stone and instead have a certain flexibility this time around?

There's an option about the historical lifespan of the officers, look with your eyes next time.

Maybe YOU should read the thread next time. He stated that he had Historical Lifespans ON and was wondering why some events with the death of characters did not occur as they should.

So does anyone know for sure if lifespan: longevity makes nobohide live longer?
