castle development strategy
for small castle, i focus on mostly riceshop(get cheaper rice exchange rate and boost population) and commerce make the land more suitable for business.

for big castle, i just build practicing range i think it is the option from far right. 4 practicing ranges(boost troop attack), 3 palaces(boost siege surrounding effect) and 1 farm development by choice. This generic strategy works well for me.

anyone have other ways of effectively divide your districts for your castles?

I try to do a 1/1/2 strategy , for 1 harvest =1 troops= 2 commerce district except for my frontier castles where i go for 2 troops instead of 2 commerce . I feel like money is the most important ( building castles + every council action cost money). i m at something like 60+k rice per year / 10k gold per turn/ 50k troops at the moment.

u dont understand practing range is much more important for main castle. that allow u to break another enemy army in seconds. i have 5 of em and boy, when i clash with my enemy they instantly evaporate like a fart in the wind.

not to mention if u obsess with population boom, u end up getting coalition/realm divide against u i think the logic script is whoever have bigger population will run risk of being the enemy of the state. I personally prefer quality over quantity.

@Alice: For your strategy of having rice exchanges, do you ever get the prices low enough that you can make a profit buying and selling rice on the market? I find, even if there is a great harvest and prices are low, the price buying rice is always higher than the highest price I could receive selling it.

Thanks for the strat about stacking developments to make stronger troops. I didn't know the improvements would stack.

Does anyone try city specialization? Maybe make one city for siege troops, another for field troops, another for rice and/or income?

The rice and get cheap as your NON-main castle have enough riceshops. but as your city grow make sure your u open enough matchlock workshop to get cheap matchlocks. cuz they are expensive. yeh the specialization is basically small castle for cash cows and big castle for elite troops.

Walls are a good start but I would also consider the upgrade that allows you to deploy your troops while under seige. Nothing worse than having an enemy sneak attack you and not being able to do a thing about it when most of your powerful leaders are stuck inside a castle being seiged!

the upgrade eventually become sanada fort. I only upgrade to the first level and make sure my troop can come out attack i never upgrade to the highest level. also this feature only apply to my frontier/border castles.
