Why does KOEI refuse to do multiplayer??
I have been playing their games since the 90's and I don't get why they never made any of these games multiplayer over the internet. Romance of the Three Kingdoms 11 would have been awesome over the internet

ikr? I've played ROTK since the NES days with a friend of mine .. would love to be able to flash up a modern ROTK and play over the internets for old times sake.

there are a lot more balancing issues with the units and other stuff. they did make a water downed seperated version called 1 million people of Nobunaga's Ambition 1.0 APK for Android and thats it. sorry i know this is frustrating

Nobunaga no Yabou Internet (not Online, that's an RPG) and Sangokushi Internet had online multiplayer.

KOEI/Tecmo is kind of a budget developer, but they charge full price because their games are kinda niche. Online multiplayer requires a lot of resources and support, none of which KOEI probably wants to mess around with. We always get the shaft on PC too.

From what I heard, ROTK12 is not nearly as good as the previous version. What I would love is for RTK11 to be playable over the internet. How awesome would it be to have 2 to 4 players on that.

You are right, 11 is better than 12, I played both with the power up kit, in the matter of fact, I play all of them starting from 6, plus the original GameBoy version. My favorite is 7, will pay double the full price if they can remake that game.

The problem with them having multiplayer is that they don't really have much experience with the mode all that much they had always attempted and tried it out in their Samurai, Dynasty and Orochi series but had always came out feeling it wasn't worth it mostly due to always having such major connection and server issues. It is true other games do include such modes and it runs smoothly its just the problem of having to host servers for their Main consumers back in Japan and then their Western supporters that range from the USA to France to Germany which would mean more time and money needed to keep said servers up and than having to deal with the issues that will occur and having people ♥♥♥♥ on them because of it. They are more than content just keeping their fans at home happy I mean they long since stop trying to appease their entire fan base when they stopped scouting English Voice Actors and even just stop trying to port their games over the seas because they didn't feel the support was strong enough of course as time went on they soon discovered how big support for their games truly were more so when they got that boost when they mayed Hyrule Warriors. You guys just got to realize that Japanese Companies no matter how good and caring they seem only care for money although Koei does seem to be different they did stop supporting western ports due to them not making as big of sales over here. That is changing though so who knows they started by just translating games like Samurai Warriors 4 and the like and Now even bothered hiring English Voice actors I do believe that soon once the support and sales grows enough we may start seeing some servers popping up for us...but that may be a long long time from now It took them 10 years just to get a english Samurai Warriors game to us again 12 for a game with english voicing its going to take much more just to get a server....than again first they may have to stop dumbing down their games I mean us westerners are smarter than you think Koei I mean come on I want my Ninjas XD

There is an old game called Fading Suns that had a multiplayer mode that I think would be perfect for RTK and NA. You do your turn and save it, and the save file is sent off to the other players, they do their turn, and it is sent off to the next guy, and so on. This way you don't all have to set a time aside to play at the same time and you can do your turn when you are ready, and take as long as you want. It would slow down when I a battle is taking place, but who cares, it would be an awesome feature. You could just play another game while waiting for your turn.

It would also be far better than fighting the AI, if every time you attacked another force, another player could jump in and play the enemy, no matter who it is.
