Basically, if a general has an item u want or need, you either have to execute said general when you capture them, or recruit them and give them another treasure and with generals only able to have 1 at a time, they will trade in the one they already own
Or would it work if I lured officers who held them to me?
Ya thats true, my bad, forgot it your clan as a whole that has to have them, but ya, ull have to either attack and capture the general or entice him to your side and as for how do u make them red...well..u dont, it is all based on the officers current loyalty compared to what their required loyalty is and if the actual is lower then the officers required it will be red, if it is higher but within a few points it will be yellow and if higher then a certain amount it will be blue. Nothing you can control, it is just based on factors such as how long they served with their ruler which grants a bonus after a certain number of years, if their tenet matches their ruler, if they are currently lord of a castle etc.
