Also after you have expanded some more one of your retainers should tell you that you can become shogun once you have 30 castles (only main castles' of provinces count) and aonce you have done that and have Nijo castle (the capital) under your control you will become Shogun.
As Shogun you can end the game through the "Ban Warfare" policy and you can give out ranks to other clans.
