Population is important as it increases income and total labour. You can upgrade Castle/Fortress with Residence and Annex to further increase pop. growth once you have some spare gold. Certain Facilities such as Rice Dearlers and Inns in Commercial Districts also increase population growth.
Also, for every 5k population above 15k the town can have one additional district i.e. 20k population can have 3 (initial, minimum) + 1 districts, 50k can have 10 districts. That's if the town has space for expanding districts. Some areas are limited to less, even just 3 districts, but the additional population will still increase labour and income.
Conduct diplomacy with a strong neighbour and ally with them. You can ask for reinforcements to help take over a castle, or help defend yours. Having at least 20 Trust with another clan also gives a little trade income.
Implement some policies you think will be useful. They have an upkeep cost, so choose wisely. You can turn them off if it starts to drain your gold.
2. build relationship with clans that has attitude to you (awe, friendly) (+20 relationship give you gold)
3. for the starter, play as Oda clan or the Hojo clan.
Thank you for the advice.
So my first 2 years looks like that:
Upgrade all my castles and my provinces to support and gain maximum population generation.
Roads to 5. Building Residence and other Castle Population stuff. After that I go for Income.
For me, there are 3 policies, I always activate as Oda, especially as Nobunaga. The Population growth ones. TBH can't remember the name. But with roundabout 2600 gold income, you should afford them all. After that, you just wait for increase in population, so that you generate more income. So after 1-2 years you will have a hugeass population = massive gold, harvest and soldiers. Go get em, boy.
Anyway another question I ahve to ask, One of the tribe villages just saved my ass, sent 1000 troops to defend my castles when I sent troops south to capture a castle quest. Anyway I captured the castle and the quest objective never forfilled. Basicly I only just barely captured the castle and left instantly onc it was done to fight the invading force from the north, Only just made it in time. But since it didnt regiester, do I have to capture a few castles ?

Question no.2. how do I influence this tribe ? Doesnt seem to belong to anyone
Answer to your Q2, tribe is not belong to any clan, as long as there are other clans nearby.
You have to capture all the fort or castle nearby the tribe to control them 100%.
I am also trying to build an enclosure. but it wont let me, it says I need to repair my wooden fences, no idea how to do that, the HP is 3000/3000 <.< do I need to upgrade to earthan wall ?

Thats what I mean. Only thing thats stopped me so far :/
Looking at the screenshot that place's Upgrade slots aren't many, so I suggest getting Residence and Annex for population, which just requires Earthen Wall.
Is there any answer how to get that inpendant tribe on my side, ? it has noones influence, any way I can each out to them ?
I am actually struggling to break through Clan Date, 2 battles over their fortress ended in a stalemate, they have frigging allies everwhere to join the battle late once I start getting the upperhand. and its fotress is growing, it went from 3000 to 4000 in troops so fast and its continuing to grow. it feels like they are replishing their troops out their asses... I lowered its army of 3500 to 1200, my main armiy went from 3000 to 1600, and a few turns later they are back to 3500 (which now has grown to 4100) Well I am about to start a 3rd offensive. ><
Date anahilated everyone in teh 3 areas, all the small clans are gone, so this battle may be imposslble to win >< I'll probably be stuck for the rest of the game ><

I cant recall relief forces from the north (who I made allies with) because it seems to be too far for them travel, As you see those 3 allies of his interfeared in the last battle, I would of been able to take the castle west of the fortress if not for them >< Since it had 3000 health isntead of the fortess's 6500. Feels like I am going to have to siege that
Feel like I may have to restart and build enclosures faster, I did ok getting roads up, putting in rice farms, and an inn
Or try to defeat the enemy quickly at the castle with Pierce+Enrage or similar, before reinforcements arrive. If you defeat the enemies right outside the castle, you should get the option to attack the walls and damage them. After that you can "Storm" (default is "Surround", click the cannon icon while sieging for Storm) to get the base down quickly, instead of Surround which can take a while.
Other than that, you can coordinate a mass attack if you have enough food, gather several units and approach from several directions. Road level affects the number of units able to pass at one time, and also unit movement speed, so you should also upgrade the roads you are using to attack.

My north attack was getting the upperhand, so I was going to send them south to the castle, trying to split their defenders at the fortress. I still had an army of about 1000 in that northern castle yet to deploy. Theres roughly 5000 defending that fortress, whily my west attack has rougly 3000+2200 +800 an waiting for when I could split them (fortress has turrets so it disavantage if I attack right ?).
So while watching this progress unfold this happens

Well, I am ♥♥♥♥♥♥. Game over man game over. Works so hard to to produce the army I have and it throws this at me. 6500 troops is more than I have. I guess the only way to succeed in this game is to play one of the well established clans ?
Should I lower the AI settlings for development? all the bigger clans just anhilated everyone :/
It's certainly possible to win the game with the small clans, but since you are still new I suggest playing one of the intermediate clans if you don't want to play the major ones like Oda/Uesugi(Nagao)/Takeda/Hojo etc.
So, someone in the Date clan might have fewer troops than you, but better Valor and Leadership than your unit's leader, and so they can still win anyhow. Try to keep that in mind when picking your starting clan, and if you can, look through their officers to see if their skill levels will match up with your opponents.
As for that tribe that showed as independent, don't forget you can "Appease" tribes, I forget what the category it is under is called but its the same category where you can "Entice" enemy officers and "Collude" with them
It is also really hard to start out too small, as the bigger clans will be able to grow faster than you will be able to catch up to. Don't feel bad about adjusting your difficulty a bit too, until you get the hang of the game more. One thing that might help is turning the AI aggression down to "Low", and if you feel like that is unfair you could turn their intelligence to "High" to offset their low aggression. Changing the other settings also helps change the pace of the game a bit, and if you are going to start as a smaller clan you may want to give yourself some developmental advantages as well.
One big piece of advice I would give you, though, is that population is probably the most important thing in the game! I know others have touched on this subject but I will as well. The two big things your population affects are your district expansions and your army size. For any Castle as well as many of the better fortresses, getting your expansions faster means more growth and power for you, regardless of what type of district you want to make. As for your army, each individual army unit is made up of Troops and Militia. Troops come from conscript districts, upgrades to those districts, and upgrades to your castle. Militia is based solely on population. This means that, for any given Fort or Castle, there is ultimately a maximum number of Troops that it could ever have, but its Militia size is unlimited! So in the long run focusing on population over conscript development will get you a bigger army.
Don't forget to ally yourself with another powerful figure as well, as others have also recommended. If you're going to play in that northeastern region, you should be looking to ally yourself with either the Date, the Hojo, or the Uesugi (Nagao in early stages). You will most likely need the assitance of one of these larger players in order to successfully combat another, unless you decide to start as one yourself.
One last suggestion is to not worry too much about quests when you are still learning the game, specifically the historical quests. You can still win as the Oda clan without ever having to succeed in a single quest. They will often make your life easier, but can have unexpected consequences as well, and so if they don't match your own personal goals you should feel free to ignore them.
You do have to look at all the troops your enemy has and where they are located though. You can "Scout" castles and forts to find out exactly how many troops are stationed there, and only ever have to scout each one once. You should expect for your opponents to pull reinforcements from 2 or even 3 regions away from the one you are targeting, especially if they know that they won't win with what they already have in the region, and so you have to account for that by bringing forward your own troops to meet those incoming defenders. Don't expect the AI to just defend their cities one by one while you march through with a huge army.
This goes back to what i said in my first response, that you need to ally yourself with someone strong enough to help you overtake an opponent this size. Having the Uesugi or the Hojo attack the Date from the south or west, by using "Request Reinforcements" and having them attack territory on their side, would mean that the Date would probably have to dedicate more troops to that defense than to defending against your attack, and would ultimately split their army enough for you to make headway into their territory as well as gaining a numerical advantage in terns of surviving troops.
