Just player oriented. Do not betray your allies by the way, that punishment is permanent.

Nice to see a Detective Conan fan! :)

Also, do not attack people who assisted you previously in battle even if your alliance with said clan runs out. You'll get the "wary of treachery" punishment as well. Feel free to ask questions, it's nice to see people playing SoI

Me too, it's probably my favorite anime actually. :)

Unlike some other strategy games SOI punishes you rather permanently for backstabbing behaviour. At the very least putting up the appearance of honor is a good idea.

The reverse side is I don't think I've ever seen the AI break a treaty, so diplomacy is more reliable and effective than in many other games.

I started With Sol Sengoku Risshiden First and then picked up this Version of Sol, in SR i noticed diplomacy is not that extreme, i did not expect a huge difference between the 2 Sol tbh.

One more unrelated question: what do you upgrade on districts do you always go for rice dealers to get that extra pop growth whenever you can or do you focus on something else instead even if you have the option to go for the extra pop growth?

Everything feels so different from SR yet similar if that makes sense. Specialy the District system I feel like everything i have learned from SR just went down the drain.

I haven't experienced it in a normal playthrough but i was curious because in some historical scenarios i.e playing as the Takeda and the Hojo breaks there marriage alliance with you. That made me think will there diplomacy be affected because of it just like me or would it stay the same. And as 曹操 said, will they also get the wary of treachery as well?, on paper this should be very common on max difficulty that is if it's possible.

Honestly, I usually go for improved income instead of pop growth. Roads and castle upgrades usually provide enough pop growth in my experience.
Also, developing income and farm improve pop growth, too, so you still get some extra growth out of that.

I believe treaties broken by events aren't counted against the faction.

Actually the AI breaks alliances very rarely. This happened to me 3 or 4 times in my 2000 hours of game time. I don't specifically know what makes them to do it, but I think it might be related to your relationship with them and if your territory is surronding them... This happened to me on my Akechi playthrough on the Fateful Clash scenario. You get a free 60 month alliance with the Suzuki for winning at Yamazaki, but after a while the Suzuki broke the alliance. I couldn't ally with them anymore, I got the warning: "they won't deal with people they cut off". Weird...

@Gin: Sphere of Influence is a much superior game all around, I think you will enjoy it.

Ah, cut off territory causing it makes sense. That was the only thing I remember causing it in more recent ROTK games as well. I guess I haven't seen it because I don't think I ever did that to someone who wasn't an outright vassal.

Me neither, usually when I know that the daimyo in question will never be my vassal, I simply conquer their territory. It might be why I also get broken alliances from the AI very rarely. Yeah, in ROTK XI you basically had unlimited alliances until you cut off their territory. Afterwards, they would ask to dissolve the alliance. Alliances have never been the strong points of Koei's strategy games if I'm honest... I feel that you always get an unfair advantage.

Thank you everyone for everything i can't wait to get used to the game so i can conquer all of japan with every country possible even if it takes thousands of hours xD.

That's an hard question... Probably 1551? A lot of clans are pretty strong in that era, the early scenarios are also really good, I mean, there are so much possibilities in this game...

Once you get experience (mid to advanced) and start to up the difficulty, I recommend that you try the Akechi in 1582, the Hosokawa in 1567 and the Date in 1584. The first two are going to be a struggle to get substantial land and for entirely different reasons, while the later will be one of your most agressive playtroughs because the Hojo, the Tokugawa, the Toyotomi and maybe later the Shimazu, will give you substantial headaches. You have to be fast and effective.
