Wayward Terran Frontier: Zero Falls

Wayward Terran Frontier: Zero Falls

Saw this game mention on STARSECTOR reddit - so quesiton
For anyone who has both how would you compare starsector with wayward?

one of the comments was "Wayward Terran Frontier: Zero Falls damage engine and boarding combined with Starsector's ship combat and hyperspace/overworld map is like my dream game."

is the combat not that good in the game yet?

is the simulation just as deep with factions and things going on in the universe?

Personally I find combat better here than in Starsector. Although you don't have much in the way of fleet in terms of flying a single ship in combat it feels more in-depth. You can customize your ships to a much greater extent. You pretty much take a hull shape and then put in all the components and design the ship yourself. Then when enemy shot damages your powerline to your weapons then until yo or your crew/drones repair it you can say goodbye to your weapons. This can be prevented as there is power management to take into consideration when designing. You can put smaller reactors close to every system you need and thus have multiple redundancies however risk major explosions whenever one of those gets destroyed or you can make a giant well protected reactor and put powerlines along safer routes which takes that valuable space from other components. That being said there are premade default designs that you can use instantly and eventually modify slightly to suit your needs better.

With regards to simulation of galaxy and factions it is extremely barebones at the moment nothing to compare with Starsector. This game is pretty much fun shooting in space with very little in terms of consequences right now.

Starsector is definetly much better just for how much further in development it is

W.t.f. is with out a doubt a gem in the making, but it will be a while till it gets there

https://store.steampowered.com/app/863590/Starcom_Nexus/ https://store.steampowered.com/app/954870/Astrox_Imperium/

these two might be somewhat intresting, though they look too old for my taste, so id still preffer starsector and wayward even as it is right now

Starcom Nexus is a brilliant game done by a very talented dev. it's like xcom + uh - freelancer? Maybe?

Astrox imperium is like EVE offline.

Spaz is just that. Fun, spastic. Really fun.

Drox operatives is one of my all time multiplayer faves. Most similar to WTF:ZF in terms of 2d-combat flight but lots of interesting NPC interactions. The WTF:ZF devs need to study this game for certain.

I prefer WTF:ZF over star sector hands down due to the nature of ship design and granularity of damage maps. Makes for much more visceral combat.

Starsector has way more content right now, but WTF (lol) has some incredible potential and it's also quite a fun game as it is right now.

I'd get both.

Starsector also has a HUGE modding scene, with a ton of high quality mods. And every annual or so update is more like an expansion pack. Also, unlike WTF, starsector is relatively bug free

WTF's ship customization is absolutely peerless. However, Starsector is definitely better at everything else. Forget potential, you never know how games will turn out in X years. Starsector is the better game right now, it has been actively updated for years, and for a alpha game it has relatively large modding scene. If this was a competition, it's not at all a fair fight. I highly recommend everyone who hasn't play it to go try it.

Personally, I really like the idea of WTF, again the ship customization is pretty much the only reason I would play this over any other 2D space game. But updates are sparse, modding is pretty non-existent (Seriously, if you don't have the manpower to add much needed content to the game during development, you really should open this game up for modding asap, I don't understand the delay. It should be one of the highest priorities, and should have been done closely following Workshop update), and then they joked about developing multiplayer during April Fools, then announce they were actually, kind of serious, and expect people to have faith they have time to finish this game?

I want to add to this in saying that Sseth did a review video on starsector for the most recent version. So those that are curious about the game can go check it out from his review. Hell, his review basically DDoSed the website AND the key dealer BMT Micro that Alex uses for selling the keys
