With regards to simulation of galaxy and factions it is extremely barebones at the moment nothing to compare with Starsector. This game is pretty much fun shooting in space with very little in terms of consequences right now.
Starsector is definetly much better just for how much further in development it is
W.t.f. is with out a doubt a gem in the making, but it will be a while till it gets there
please list these options
these two might be somewhat intresting, though they look too old for my taste, so id still preffer starsector and wayward even as it is right now
Astrox imperium is like EVE offline.
Spaz is just that. Fun, spastic. Really fun.
Drox operatives is one of my all time multiplayer faves. Most similar to WTF:ZF in terms of 2d-combat flight but lots of interesting NPC interactions. The WTF:ZF devs need to study this game for certain.
I prefer WTF:ZF over star sector hands down due to the nature of ship design and granularity of damage maps. Makes for much more visceral combat.
I'd get both.
Personally, I really like the idea of WTF, again the ship customization is pretty much the only reason I would play this over any other 2D space game. But updates are sparse, modding is pretty non-existent (Seriously, if you don't have the manpower to add much needed content to the game during development, you really should open this game up for modding asap, I don't understand the delay. It should be one of the highest priorities, and should have been done closely following Workshop update), and then they joked about developing multiplayer during April Fools, then announce they were actually, kind of serious, and expect people to have faith they have time to finish this game?
