Building a Team Mission (Stuck Need help)

How do I get the mission for the cloning vat thing for Marv to trigger? 30 minutes into the game I'm told to go make a friend. 12 hours later I still can't have him with me on my ship because I don't have a cloning vat for him.

Edit: I've done all the other missions I've been given and have been unable to progress farther.

All required parts for cloning vat are at abandoned stations. When you come across abandoned station your "Ai friend" should alert you via dialog.

Is there a specific one/type I need to find? I've found and raided several but the mission still just says flay around and I'll keep my eye out.

as far as I know it has very high chance to be in any of them... like you can find several instances of same item, are you checking also small corridor storages as well as large cargobays?

My 2 cents... I flew down to the red sector, and when I neared the pirate headquarters, I had the robot alert me to a nearby station 100km away that held what i was looking for. idk if that was planned, or if it is random.

I think the problem is I'm not getting the notification from the AI saying go here to get the thing like Window Licker mentioned. Also what are the ones inside the asteroid mazes for? http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1128836941 They are always completely empty.

Ok so at this point I've completed all the missions the robot has given me except for Building a Team. Which says "You need a cloning vat before Marv can join yor crew, fly around in space and I'll keep an eye out for places where we might find one." So where the heck do I find one? I've flown all over and he hasn't said a word to me yet.

nobody got a green waypoint marker somewhere?, also someone went to the left sector from your home station?

Every sector with a station in it I've been in. Have yet to get the dialogue and waypoint for the location. I have found lots of the stations that are inside an asteroid maze but every single one has been undefended and completely empty. No loot. No beasties. Nothing.

It seems like it might be related to issues with worlds prior last two hotfixes, I am really sorry about it but only thing I can recommend right now is backing up save (wordsave folder in game directory) and generating new world, it really should be pretty much guranteed to find one really fast. So please generate new world and visit one or two stations (they are generated nearby) and see if there are monsters, loot and so on.

Thanks that worked. It was a double victory as well. I managed to finaly smash the fly thats been buzzing around in here for 2 days now as well.

I am glad this worked, still sorry about that, it was bug with random behavior that made it past initial patch testing so your world was generated in wrong way at wrong time. Anyway, have fun.

I have a different problem. I already got marv before I got the building a team quest. Now it's stuck at "search taverns..." part because.. I already have marv.
