Purge warning - help please!

Sorry for what must be an incredibly noob question, but how do I avoid losing a life when the Purge Warning message comes up - tried jumping, tried firing but nothing seems to help me avoid the energy sphere?

I think he is talking about those enemy-thrown fireballs that delete the floor.
If so, i always wait until it's nearly hitting ground and glidejump in the other direction

You mean when the tank is there? Kill the tank before it purges
