Dungeon Siege 2

Crafting to increase % chance to find magic items
Would increasing my party % chance to find magic items would increase the likelihood of finding unique and rare items? At what % chance total before the effect becomes notifiable in your experience? I am playing at the 'normal' level (i.e. not veteran or above)

"Legendary is the best enchantable items, they open all the available slots on an item to use for reagents. I wouldn't bother with anything less. I'm not sure about the actual mechanics in the game for finding magical items. But say if you have a 2% chance to drop a set item normally, my guess is that 100% magic find will boost to 4%, and likewise 700% will only boost to 14%. So your chances of getting good drops do get better, but still not awesome. I really didn't notice a difference till I had my magic find % way up. Someone that can read code would probably know the exact numbers and how they interact. I believe that drops are also contigant on level also. typically you won't get too many drops that are outside 5 levels in either direction of your main characters level."

Not sure if the above link is referring to Dungeon Siege 2 mechanics. If it is, then seems rather pointless to boost magic find chance.

It appears to be. Atleast, it's organized under the DS2 group of forum discussions.

I am not sure if it is because of being at higher level (32) or if it is because I have increased my total % chance to find magical items to around 100% (chants sustained included) or maybe a combination of both that I am seeing more regular unique (pink) item drops including an increased in set items drop. Maybe % chance of finding magical items is not as pointless as I thought?

Some extremely good purple items (like an amulet giving 80% resistance to death, 2H sword with +100dmg and livesteal, ring +3 to all combat+nature) can not be found without extremely big magic find. It is not realy low item drop at 0% MF but literally 0% drop chance until you got 200+ MF for example

In my experience, the only times I've really seen the Magic Find Chance make any significant impact were when fighting miniboss strength enemies, where they're more likely to drop rarer tier items, and in some cases, have an increased chance to spawn the Mysterious Mystery thief enemy.
