AI party members are dumb?

They do not drink the mana and hp potions in their inventory when low. They don't change between range and melee weapons and don't pick their own targets.

Yea, you have to manually control potions and weapons. If they're in rampage mode, by pressing "G", they'll auto attack with thier current weapons / selected spell.

Also the AI are very slow to respond, all you can do is gear them right and hope you don't die too often.

Late game you need Tank, Healer and two DPS

A lot of Dungeon Siege 2 is managing your party while paused. Switch combat modes with G, Hit the potion and mana hotkeys, select targets and use party member's powers all while paused.

One thing my dad, brother, and I did on our playthroughs was get everyone's nature magic high enough to at least use minor heal and put it on autocast.
