Dungeon Siege 2

How to make the game work: 2019
So. This is an old game. How do you fix it so it would work?
I can provide a torrent for the whole mod package, just ask. I also help if needed.
(installing mods at the end)

Windows 8.1/10, screen and view problems. 2 problems:
- to have the screen work you need to put this command into the shorcut/steam property:
"width=1440 height=900 fullscreen=false" at the end of the "target:"
The width must be bigger than 1000, or it will not go fullscreen.
- to fix the games super zoom, you need something else.
You need a mod - easy to setup and download. Elysis all saves mod.

(w)ww.siegetheday.(org)/?q=node/520
The menu is static! Only the gameplay will change, the menu can't change. But you can resize the window, or use alt+enter to fullscreen it after you have the pointer.
Mods are key to make this a really nice modern game. It's awesome.

Multiplayer. This old game used the gamespy, that is not anymore and so has been disabled by steam (or someone else). For this you will need 2 things!
- A virtual lan network (for example gameranger, where you can find other players)
- And Dungeon Siege X. -> You install this with the "Elys all saves"
With this you will see each other in Network.

We are not ready yet. We have a couple problems. Bugs, content that doesn't work.
So, comes the unofficial 2.2 patch.
download.cnet.(com)/Dungeon-Siege-II-v2-2-patch/3000-7536_4-10442335.(html)
If you have a "private" version (understandable), notice that you need the DS X version, instead of a crack.
Also the hotfix mode. Search: siegetheday.(org)/?q=node/1308 This a hotfix for the base game. The legend of arana is the expansion on it.

We are still not ready yet. As the content.. is scarce and linear. Some fixes needed.
A lot of annoyance, problematic content.. game design flaws (enchantment) has been fixed through mods. There are some needed recommendations that you should really run.
(source: siegetheday.(org)/?q=taxonomy/term/79)
- Legendary Mod: siegetheday.(org)/?q=node/1607
- World Shop Mod: siegetheday.(org)/?q=node/2622
- (recommended) Enchanters half-assed mod: nexusmods.(com)/dungeonsiegeii/mods/6

Good luck guys! Write if you need any help!

To Instal mods, go to steam, comon, DS2 / resources, and put the .ds2res files there. If you have ds2mod files, just rename them ds2res!

Does the game have access to the save folder? \Documents\My Games?
Did you start it as an administrator? Do you have mods?
StrikerGT Feb 24, 2019 @ 8:46am

Do you see your characters name? Have you tried in the shorcut to run on compability?
Some people say it, because they installed it to another disc and it just doesn't work. (for me, it's on a different disc and works)

Have you - by any chance - removed one of your mods?
As soon as I remove one of my mods the game can't find my savegame file anymore, even though it's still in the savegame directory.

Lol mate. That's not hard thou. For example, you make a shortcut (right click, send to, shortcut on desktop), and than right click that, go to properties. On the second tab "shorcut" there is a "target" line. Usually in your own language.
There is "c://documents/blablabla" and behind that you write width=1440
So: "c://documents/blablabla" width=1440 height=900 fullscreen=false

Or you can go to steam library, right click game, property, and in the General tab (first tab), there is a line "set launch options" at the middle. You clicky that copy this:
width=1440 height=900 fullscreen=false
Press okay, and probably done.

Look for your savegame in this directory:
[documents/My Games/Dungeon Siege 2 (Broken World)/Singleplayer/...]

If your savegame is there, but the game can't find it when started, try this starter tool:
https://www.siegetheday.org/?q=node/2687

It has been created for the sole purpose of loading savegames the game otherwise wouldn't recognize.

Have you tried checking ONLY one compatibility option called "Deactivate fullscreen optimization"?
I had the same issue.

I am running the game with only that option, fullscreen, on 1080p and with the changes described in the following link:
