Remake or sequal??

Am I the only one who wants a remake or sequal for this game? If you have any information about the sequal (if there is one in the making), or ideas will be helpful here.

Ok, thanks. The only thing is, its not a very recent one. If they released Sid Meiers Pirates 2, with a lot of new features, that would fall under what I ment. Heck, even if they added an expansion pack, it would be good enough for me.

Tell 2k games - it would be cool if the game had a co-op of some sort. And the ships need to look more like the real thing. The ship of the line looks more like a brig than a firgate. There are many types of ships that they left out also.

Yes, believe it or not, this is the remake. Still, I'll add my voice - a newer one would be cool, too. Sid is still in the business, after all... C'MON, SID! :)

Now, that we know its not in the making, lets make ideas for the next game (this probably won't be seen by Sid, but we still can try!)

First there should be some option of ruling your own town. You can adjust prices, make defenses, and other stuff.

Next, there should be crafting. Only being able to get your items from princesses or that shadowy guy in the corner wasn't the best idea. You can gather materials, then you have to go to a town with a crafting station that you need to craft whatever you want to craft, like a sword

If you have more ideas, don't be afraid to post them!

So for people who like these kind of games i recall there being a game just called pirates and i just bought this game because i thaught it was the other game, so anyone by chance know where i can get the other game?

no it was a pc game , i had when i was younger and i just remember it as being a great game
and it was just called pirates and its a bit old

I never did play Pirates! (yes, it was called "Pirates!" with the exclamation point as part of the name), but I fell in love with Pirates! Gold, the remake of the original Pirates!. I'm pretty sure the one you're talking about was actually also made by Sid Meier, http://www.mobygames.com/game/sid-meiers-pirates

I felt this latest remake was enjoyable. It did feel very similar to Pirates! Gold that I had played, with a few changes (some for better, some for worse).

I would love to see another remake of this game, and especially if they can make it even more open (like some suggested, the ability to own a town, or better yet be able to take over the whole caribbean (or maybe a portion of it, but if you go too far a mainland armada comes in to take it back).

oh lol i had just looked at the game and its release date and it wasnt that one, last time i saw it in stores was around 2010-11

i want a new game aswell, i want it to be majorly the same, but with multiplayer, a modding software so people can mod, and perhaps some sort of worldwide campaign (yes, i know the majority of pirates would be in the Carribean. but what if you start with a small ship and a random part of the map thats near land, then you build up till you get an ocean worthy ship and goout to sea with your fleet and take pirating to a whole new, worldwide, level... perhaps have many different factions, but the oportunity to create your own pirate nation or something... idk... but a huge, whole world pirate game/mod would be so ideal... that and multiplayer would be an instant buy for me...
