Sid Meier's Pirates!

Sid Meier's Pirates!

CRASH (FIXED THANKS TO BLACKBIRD)
hello i have a problem i was hoping someone can help me with
well i want to use cheat engine in ,sid meier's, pirates and when i go out to the screen it shuts down is there a way to fix this

and before you b**** about cheats well i dont give a s*** and will play like i want to play a ^singleplayer^ game

and that was because i've heard so many say that cheating in a game you play with noone is boring but i dont think they have anything to say let the cheaters play their singleplayer games how they like

Don't know how to fix but why not use a trainer instead? seems alot easier unless you have something special in mind

the problem is more that i can go out of the game but when i try to go back in it shuts down and throws a runtime error message in my head so i cant use a trainer or i would but thanks for the idea

Can you start the game in windowed mode, then run the trainer and switch back to full screen?
how do you start in windowed mode

You'll need to edit config.ini in the Documents\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Pirates\My Games\Game folder

Hold WinKey+R then type
notepad.exe C:\Users\{YOUR USERNAME HERE}\Documents\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Pirates\My Games\Game\Config.ini

add a line at the end then save it:
fullscreen = 0

You'll want to set your display settings in the game to something near to your desktop resolution.

Once you're running the game, unfortunately, there's no easy way to get back to full-screen while the game is running, as far as I know, so you'll want to change whatever you want in the game, then save the game, change "fullscreen = 0" to "fullscreen = 1" and launch the game again. Alternatively, you can keep playing in windowed mode.

I was suffering a similar runtime error. After some trial and error I found a fix.
1. Open the Pirates! folder at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Sid Meier's Pirates!
2. Right click on Pirates!.exe and open Properties.
3. Click the Compatibility tab
4. Check the Compatibility Mode box and make sure Windows XP (Service Pack 3) is selected.
5. Click okay and test the game.
6. If you receive a "Failed to find Steam" error message copy the Steam.dll file from C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam to the previously listed Pirates! folder.
7. Test again and enjoy the hours of your life slipping away. :-)
