the problem is more that i can go out of the game but when i try to go back in it shuts down and throws a runtime error message in my head so i cant use a trainer or i would but thanks for the idea
Hold WinKey+R then type
add a line at the end then save it:
You'll want to set your display settings in the game to something near to your desktop resolution.
Once you're running the game, unfortunately, there's no easy way to get back to full-screen while the game is running, as far as I know, so you'll want to change whatever you want in the game, then save the game, change "fullscreen = 0" to "fullscreen = 1" and launch the game again. Alternatively, you can keep playing in windowed mode.
1. Open the Pirates! folder at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Sid Meier's Pirates!
2. Right click on Pirates!.exe and open Properties.
3. Click the Compatibility tab
4. Check the Compatibility Mode box and make sure Windows XP (Service Pack 3) is selected.
5. Click okay and test the game.
6. If you receive a "Failed to find Steam" error message copy the Steam.dll file from C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam to the previously listed Pirates! folder.
7. Test again and enjoy the hours of your life slipping away. :-)
