Cant Play Game

Whenever I try to load up the game it changed my windows 7 color schemne to windows 7 basic then minimizes the applications as if its about to run. Then a couple of seconds after that I start to hear music from the game, however when I click on the minimized Icon it will black the screen as if its about to pull up and then minimize again. I cant get the game to work so if anyone can help I would appreciate it.

Found it, this worked for me actually :) ENJOY

start the game once, then open the /Sid Meier's Pirates!/config.ini file in a text-editor and add a valid resolution f.e. :
WindowWidth = 1280
WindowHeight = 960
