Games have moved on alot, thank god.
A. Most of us have played this since our childhood (I've had this CD since I was 8)
B. There is actually alot to do! (Raiding ships, Pillaging towns, Courting lasses, finding treasure, the main quest)
C. While this game isn't as feature rich as many modern games the features are pretty fun, even in repitition!
DeV simply sucks balls
How can you go around trolling every game on sale, its like you're doing the same thing every 2 minutes.
This solves all issues w OP..
To Dev:
Not all good games need to be flashy, a true gamer and let alone a person who appreciates something thats actually good after all these years, I say this to you, if it wasnt for this game, the genre of pirate themed games wouldnt have rose to such heights to attempt to match and emulate this game. So many developers have tried n failed. Troll elsewhere..
so far the best pirate game i've never played was that disney pirate of the caribbean online game.
have your own ship. sail alone or with a human crew from 1 or too dam many. you have your own side guns they have their deck cannons. not all but some ships you and your crew could board the enemy in warcraft style melee or voodoo combat. was awesome til you get to the part of the story you had to pay them to continue it. =(
Hell I still play my nintendo! Can't get enough of Base Wars and Skate or Die!!
What, you never picked a fight with an escorted treasure ship? Even better, a treasure ship escorting another treasure ship? Those guys wrecked me like Lord Beckett one time. It was great.
But Wait! The gameplay is repetitive! How can I back up a game where we can experience pretty much everything in the first few hours? Why, that's simple...I've been setting objectives for myself for every playthrough since the second one:
Second Playthrough objectives:
Third Playthrough ojectives:
Fourth Playthrough objectives:
Next Playthough objectives:
Play game from start to finish on Swashbuckler, retire with a million gold coins i.e; raise 2 million in booty before the game forcibly retires me.
Sid Meier's Pirates was my first open world game. Every playthrough I figure out better ways to play and improve my subsequent playthroughs
I'd recommend getting the game and giving another shot at being a Swashbuckling Buccaneer.
So true great game, very disapointing paywall. They really shouldn't have tricked you into thinking it was free. If they put more into the game and made it a legit mmo with a sub it would have been perfect.
