There are some good mods at the hookedonpirates forum, including an alternate map in the East Indies that someone (jlangsdo) built a few years ago before it was recently updated:

Seems to work best in windowed mode, and if you're using the trainer, start it up and switch to Steam 1.02 before starting the game.

Bumping this, seemed to get some traffic to HoP and the new map really revolutionises the game for some more playability

Thanks Ludwig! We've cleaned up the HookedOnPirates forum a bit as well (check out the "reserved for game mods" section) so it should run a bit faster than in the past. Any feedback on this? The europe mod is a lot of fun too (and the Four Corners Caribbean mod with Louisiana, Belize, Guayana etc)
