A true classic, and still fun to this day. A daily driver in my opinion. Look up the 4gb aware patch, it'll help with mods. as far as 1080p gaming, I don't think the engine will support it, I've been looking for years for that. But any 4:3 aspect will work. WELL worth the look.
The price you have to pay for such an old game (which was one of my favorites back when I was younger) is just not worth it.
I would never support such data-/$-greed but I guess its up to each users individual ethic standard.
Some of the graphics could be a bit better like the pretty ladies. The game lacks customization options like playing as a female pirate or escaped african slave. The game misses the option to be played as a multiplayer. This game would be so cool to play with friends!
