i just installed it from disk also and it didnt work so i looked online and found a link for a fix in the windows forum (this was a microsoft game when it came out) funny thing is ther was another link in the forum to a place to crack the game so you dont need the cd i dont usely do that sort of thing but since it was in the windows forums i figured i would go for it and it worked. im not going to help people crack ther games so no links from me but just look online for dungeon siege and or dungeaon siegelegends of aranna not working with windows 7 x64 and you will fined it. i have the dungeon siege that came with the expantion leagends of aranna this fix works for that also, hope this helps a little.(this was a microsoft game studios game when it came out so start there)

I have a Windows 7 x64, AMD HD6890 and it works fine. Just set the compatibility of DSLOA.exe and DungeonSiege.exe to Windows Vista and it runs for me.
Hope it helps.

Buying on Steam would not "fix the game". It would simply give you a copy of DS 1 or 2 (WITHOUT EXPANSIONS).

I´ve remebered that I did the installation with Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode in the install.exe. In DSLOA.exe and DungeonSiege.exe only let me choose Windows Vista combatibility mode.

I just played it thru on Win 8 (w Classic Shell), no special settings. Game did crash a couple a times that even task manager couldn't end, but other than that worked fine. It was good for its time ;) Some things were a bit wearing (100 spells you will never use because the interface to use them is too clunky and they are fairly irrelevant anyway), but all up an ambitious and good example of the genre at the time.

I have an original disk from Ubisoft (really 2 CD) whit the spanish speak version of the game, with the voices of the best actors of Spain. It's work for years. When i start with steam i buy a pack with DS1, 2 and 3. I unistall the disk version and install the steam "spanish" version with the voices in english and a crappy translation. I forget it. Today i uninstall the steam version and try to reinstall the disk versions. But, surprise! the instalation isn't possible. So i payed twice and lose my good disk version and have the crappy steam version.Of course microsoft games, gas powered games, ubisoft and steam don't want to know nothing about this game.

Ey, i solved my problem. I install the disk version that don't works. The folders of the disk have a system for not to be copy-pasted, but the folders in the corrupted installation in my PC not. It's suposed that the terrain's folder was bad, but the voice's folder is OK. It's illegal to dowloand folders from a game and put them together to make an entire game. but not to manipulate the folders of your old disk that don't work well. I eliminate the folder of the voices of the steam version, and copy the folder of the voices of the disk version. And it works! I can't use my CDs anymore, but at least i have the spanish speaked version that i've payed twice.
